Are these fuel pump symptoms?

1)My fuel pump makes a audible whine that is a bit louder than in the past.

2) Under moderate acceleration a couple quick hesitations, then back to normal. This has happened 3 times in the last week.

Check engine light has never lit up, and otherwise everything is normal. Thought I'd see if I was paranoid...

I have access to a shop, I assume this is a pretty easy job with a lift? And should I replace with a OEM pump or a 155 aftermarket?

Thanks to you veterans who have been down this road. I'd rather avoid finding out the hard way...

1) yes it is normal for the pump to whine somewhat.. as far as gauging just how loud is normal is hard to describe.

Best way to find out would be to hook up a gauge to the schrader valve off the fuel rail and check your fuel pressure.

should be
30 - 45 PSI engine running
37 - 43 PSI engine off

Also, when was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

If you do need to replace it, Walbro pumps are highly recommended, unless you plan on putting in aftermarket injectors; in which case get a high flow pump.
