Are lowering shocks/struts needed with H&R springs?

I don't see much mention of shocks and struts. I'd like to lower my car but am unsure whether the stock dampers will work with the springs.

My H&R springs were simply swapped out with the stock springs, I have had them on for almost a year no issues. It is unfortunate that there has not been much mention to suspension mods on the interweb. From what I read before deciding on mine the predominant choices were between the H&R and Eibachs. H&R advertised a slightly lower ride height so I went with them. With the OEM tire set up(245/45/20) the wheel gap significantly disappears after instal, but if you desire a more aggressive tire setup then prepare to have that stock wheel gap to open back up.

Stock shocks will work with lowering springs, but may not be optimized for best performance. Shock valving is driven by spring rate. Firmer springs require more damping. I'm not sure how H&R's spring rates (it's a huge mystery for some reason) compare to the OEM PP springs, but if they're significantly stiffer, stock shock valving may not be sufficient to adequately control rebound and the benefits of lowering may be offset by poor shock damping.
