When I did mine it made it a lot easier to use some pieces of twine and tie back all of the wire harnesses out of the way. So that you are not having to worry about them being in the way while you are installing the rear valve cover. Other than that make sure all of your surfaces are clean, that you put silicone on the places (corners) where you should and not where you shouldn't, take your time, and lastly don't overtorque the bolts....Good luck.

all good tips above, but i use bungee cords instead of twine. Also you want to make sure you seat the gasket in the valve cover well so it doesnt pop out, especially on the rear head, the front one is a breeze.

THe proper torquing is very important. My front bank valve cover was leaking around the half moon shaped part of the gasket. I put rtv in there and that seems to have fixed the leak. I also put some around the corners where the cam lash caps meet up with the valve cover gasket.

Using a little black RTV on the plug well seals and in the crescent shaped gasket part is actually recommended in Mark's 60k video.

I did some work on my leaky rear cover this past weekend and found that if you disconnect the electrical connectors between the engine and firewall you can possition them far out of the way, this will make removing and replacing the valve cover much easier.
