Finally got a read on my OD problem. Sometimes on- sometimes off. Works OK when it works but cuts out intermittently. The poor tranny gets ALL confused. Took it to trans guy today. Trans, OD servo and clip OK- gotta be the switch.
Anyone got an idea where this thing is located? (Yeah - I know it's the button on the gear selector) How do ya get to it? And where to get one????

My guess is if you take the console off and get at the wires to the switch you will find a break in the wiring. Those wires have to move with the change in shifter position and it is not uncommon for them to break.

This was the case in the 93atx I had.

Yea, Ive changed mine. You need to pull the center console up and follow the wire IIRC, it was a simple 2 wire black wire, you will find a small connector and simply unplug it. However, I do not think you can replace ONLY the button, just get a new **** from a boneyard. Mine cost me 13 dollars. TO take the **** off, there is a small "U" shaped piece of wire, use a small flathead to pry it out and the **** should come right off!!

Its been a while since I've done this so I did the best I could.

I dont knwo what interior color you have, but when I did mine I found a mark VIII that had a mocha shift **** so I used that one.

you have to undo some of the console (to remove that shifter bezel around the shifter, to get access to wires undernieth), then you can see there is a connection, and the wire that goes up into the shifter along side the shift rod/pole/arm. unhook the connection.

then pull the 'U' clip from the frontside of the shifter and pull it out carefully. you will be able to tell right away if you can repair the connection or not...you might need a new shift lever, or you could fab another switch up somewhere else to those wires.

im not sure how to remove the switch from the shift lever. i was able to repair my wires.
