My wife and I will be heading up to the 07 Convention this year and will be dragging our trailer with The Other Woman inside. We've never been to the Silver Lake area and need to get some first hand knowledge of it, ie: camping spots, fees etc, etc. Has anyone in the GLSS been there? Thanks.

$16-27 per night depending on what you want for the site.+a yearly state sticker for $15+/- or afew $$ a day for a daily pass. I would suggest getting a reservation ASAP as the campground around silver lake fill very quick.

At the park get up bright and early because you may wait in line for awhile until you can get on the dunes.

I myself couldnt get in last year, so I havent been there yet, but Ive heard its a blast

Keep in mind that Silver Lake is about a 2 and a half hour drive if you plan on camping up there and driving down for the convention festivities it's gonna be alittle bit of a haul.

We will be hauling The Other Woman in the ToyBox to the events at the convention. Since it's also our camping trailer, we will be hauling it with us everywhere. The hardest part will be finding a parking spot big enough for it at the events.

So, at the Silver Lake Dunes, is there a charge for camping? At the Dunes of So Cal, it's a 90.00 charge for all year or 25 per week.

Tom if needed you can always un-hitch and park the camper in our driveway during the events, I'm farly close to the host hotel and it will be more then safe sitting here during the events if you dont wanna haul it.

Thanks but we can't drive The Other Woman on the street (well we can but she draws a LOT of attention real quick like :laugh_ti: ) so unless I want to go looking for a flat bed trailer, I have to keep the girl in the trailer and hooked to the truck.

Are you familiar with the event locations?

well I'm just finding places to suggest to Chris who sends them off to Don, I'm no means heading this, it's all Chris. It helps to have someone who lives here.

If it's street legal you should be ok. We saw lots of buggies and radically modified stuff. Noise you say?? Just pull the old rodders trick and stuff the pipes with steel wool, should last long enough to get into and out of town.

She's not street legal right now but I'm thinking real hard about it.

She already has stailess steel wool packed mufflers that I've blown the packing out of. Even split open the pipes on both sides. She is definitely one of the noisiest women I've ever had.:naughty:
