I have a 93 Green SHO w/ 168K, with no mods except for a K & N Filter and Bosch Platinum +2 plugs. This summer I was planning on getting a DynoMax cat-back system, but before this I wanted to make SURE i get a valve adjustment that would be included in the 60K service. The reason I said WOULD be included is because I went to 4 or 5 different FORD dealerships and none included the valve adjustment with checking for worn valve shims in the package. So I paid $400 for a 60K service w/o the valve adjustment.

My Question is are there any SHO Owners/Mechanics that are located in Michigan that could do the valve adjustment and check my shims???

DETSHO,

About all you get for $400 at a dealership is a new timing belt. You should be able to find a qualified mechanic to do you valve lash in "Motor City".

Because the shims are a discontinued item at the dealerships, and most mechanics will not have the two special tools (from OTC) needed to do the disk replacement, you may have to get the tools and the disks before the job is started.

You could get lucky and find a mechanic with the tools and SHO experience. I would call local Ford dealers and find one who employs a mechanic that owns a SHO (or did).

Then go and talk to that mechanic. You may be able to get him/her to do your valve lash as a side job if you get the tools and the disks, and the pertinent gasket sets. Just some thoughts, rangerj

fosho94...i used to live a house away from Grosse point. I lived on Outer Drive.; I live in West Boomfield now. Cool man...

But anyway...I have not found one either. I have a friend of my father coming to check my car out tomorrow. My father is doing it as a favor for him because my dad said he is down and out, so I figure he'd do good work.. he's droppin by my house tomorrow.

Beth referred me to Ron Hiede @ widetrack Goodyear in Pontiac. However, he does not do internal engine work.

Well it is VERY GOOD to know that I am not alone in my quest to find a SHO mechanic in Michigan. I will be taking ranger's advice and calling around for FORD mechanics who have SHO experience. If any SHO members out there encounter any SHO mechanics please don't be selfish and spread the word to fellow Michigan SHOs.
