Ok. I know this subject has been beaten to death, But I did a bunch of searches, and didn't find the answer I need.

My motor mount broke the other day, and I needed to drive it to work (had no choice)...

Anyway, long story short, A 1/2 inch piece of the transmission broke and the bolt popped out. The piece missing is relatively small, so what i'm wondering is, can I put a longer bolt in and get away with it? Is there something I can do?

I cant afford a new transmission....

I was in the same boat. I was hit while stopped at a light and the impact jostled my motor enough that the boss on the tranny broke just like yours.

I used a larger diameter bolt. If the piece you are missing is small enough, you will be fine.

First, I tried to repair the area with JB weld. It was cold, so that did not work for s@&^.

I ended up using a standard 1/2" bolt(not metric). It was slightly bigger(and it cross threaded itself in there nicely. I had to turn down the shaft of the bolt slightly and I drilled the hole in the case slightly deeper and ran a tap though it. To do this, I just put the bolt in my drill and lathed it with a file. I might have had better luck using a 15/32" bolt instead of a 1/2". I would epoxy the bolt into place for added strength. When you need to get it out, heat the area up to about 200 degrees to melt the epoxy. A heat gun will work but a torch is faster. No MAPP gas though...too hot for aluminum.

That (without epoxy) lasted for over a year until I found Bizzy and had her rebuild my tranny with a new case halve. The bolt was loose and sloppy by the time that year past.

OK.. i NEED to come up with a stop gap fix so I can drive the car.. I can't be carless. I drove ALL OVER TOWN looking for a bolt (M12x1.75) slightly longer than the one thats in there, with no luck.

Any Suggestions?
