I'm looking to upgrade my 93's alternator to the 94-95's 130 amp, but just wondered about the availability of the parts I'll need to convert it. The core parts are easy enough to find, but what about the alternator and accessory bracket's from a 94-95? Is this easily available from somewhere, or do I need to scour the junkyard until a 94-95 3.0 SHO appears? I'm looking to do this sort of ASAP, since my Audi is almost down for the count with it's power steering issues. Gotta fix one or the other, and these brackets are really the deciding factor here.

Any advice, links, anything, helps. Thanks! :salute:

The A/c bracket is kind of tough to find, I needed one for my 95 and posted a wtb add on here and only got two responses. I got one from Andrew parting out the 20+ shos. I contacted him at like noon and drove out to pick it up 4 hours later and he had it ready for me. If he has any more I would suggest him. If you find someone with the bracket make sure you get the alternator bracket with it, as its not the same from the earlier cars either(I made this mistake!).

That's what I feared. Out of curiosity, what makes the brackets different?

The Bracket on the left is off an ATX, but the MTX bracket looks very similar. The bracket on the far right is the standard early bracket from an MTX. The smaller bracket in the middle is the alternator bracket for the mitsu alt. The 3g alternator bracket looks similar, but the mounting holes are a little off and has a mount to go around the back of the alt built in. Hope this helps, Kevin.

That does a lot, thanks. I was just wondering if it were a size/width issue, or if it were a whole nother bracket altogether like you showed. Looks like modifying what I have is out of the question.

One more question if you don't mind. Would the ATX bracket work too? Or am I stuck hunting for a 94-95 MTX only?

I know the engine lift bracket is different on the ATX so that wouldn't work. The alternator has a different spacing on the the top iirc. I don't think the motor mount part is the same on the bottom. I had some pictures comparing all three, but i deleted them.
