I'm sure this "method" will raise the hairs on the necks of some, but I was bored and wanted to try something cause the clear on Chastity's hood has been continuing to peel in the summer sun and I'm about a week away from putting the repainted jy hood on her and then start to work on this hood for Ginger.

The clear probably has to be in a certain state of decay for this to work, but once I got the angle correct, I dod the whole hood in a little more than an hour. I put more time than that on the jy hood and it only had a few small spots that needed the clear sanded off.

I'll have to do some sanding anyway cause there are rock chips etc that go all the way to metal, and then I'll get the times I messed up with my "method", but is was a lot less work than the sanding route with what I had to take off.

click on the first pic, it's a vid, you have to hold the blade at the correct angle, if you do and..maybe if the paint is sufficiently decayed, you can scrape off the clear and not actually dig into the base that's left, so...less sanding time

Looks like the old razor blade method.
It is a good idea to keep trying different ideas, you made a lot of headway in a few minutes.

I did a hood once with spray bombs and had more problems than anyone could imagine. When I got the black to a reasonable state, I used a clear-coat that was not from the same manufacturer and various areas wrinkled.
Not recommended.

Yah, I've read a lot about not mixing things like manufacturers and or different bases, so, we'll see. I had to get more green for the jy hood, When that gets here I should be able to finish and get this one into the "shop" under my deck where the air is still and start sanding.
Thanks for your input

No, :) you can't remove it, just let it sit in the sun for 20 years and it will remove itself...a little at a time
