You won't get much if any performance gains from a K&N. A regular paper filter is just as good. With that bring said, I do have K&N filters in all my SHOs. Not for the performance but for the longevity. Put it in and forget about it. When it does need cleaning, clean it and oil it properly and there won't be any issues.

On Rockauto it is listing the Fram Airhog for $4. That would be the air filter I would go for myself.

the downside to the K&N is that most people do not oil them correctly, and the excess oil gets on the mafs and corrupts its signal, so the car runs worse with the "better" filter.

if you have any type of oiled filter, be very careful not to over-oil it.
