Hey guys my check engine light came on last week while driving so I pulled the codes and got the usual ROM Failure, but also got a code for the air charge temp sensor (24 or 25 I forget). Is this the little sensor that plugs into the side of the airbox? It said it was out of range and I was wondering what if that is in fact the part, and what to do. Thanks.

Either the sensor is bad or there's a problem in the circuit. Check the integrity of the connector. Simply unplugging it and replugging it might help or it might need some cleaning or there could be a loose wire. You can always replace the sensor just to be sure if you don't mind spending $15 at autozone for it. The sensor is probably a standard thermistor that you can check with an ohmeter. You can probably find a simple table or a formula with a quick web search and it will tell you what resistance corresponds to what temperature (steal a thermometer from the kitchen or somewhere and place it nearby so you know what the temperature is. If you don't feel like testing the sensor then just shell out $15 for a new one. If you get the code again then you have a wiring fault somewhere.

Thank you Rick. If anybody else has gotten this code and replacing the part did not fix it, please share your experience! Otherwise I'll mess around with it along with my dad; electrical engineer. wink

I just had this problem on my 93 ATX and the sensor itself was fine. Apparently the ACT sensor rarely fails. What caused the problem was a coating of grime on the sensor tip. The grime prevented the sensor from responding properly. So I cleaned off the grime with a Q-tip and everything was fine. Be careful because the sensor has this spongy orange stuff on it and it scratches easily. Then you definately need a new sensor. Hope this works for you!
