Hello happy holidays all. I am wondering if anyone can lend me some info on my harmonic balancer, mine has played out, and I am unable to locate one, the One I have apparently is not stock, and measures 4 3/4 on a tape and I had a machinist call it a 4660 , I have called around and have been unable to find one to match up, the vendors I have talked to do not list measurements on them. I am unable to find a brand-name on any of them, does anyone know if there were or are aftermarket pulley kits available? Thanks in advance

Yea, I'm not sure what that means Eric lol, but I ended up replacing it with the stock balancer, I have had to replace 3 pulleys so far in about 6 months, now I have a whole new set of problems, the car only run a couple of days after the new harmonic balancer then started choking it's self out and dying. Its flooding and back firing you can smell the gas. Fuel pump is good. I had a couple people tell me it jumped time, but the car will start and idle smoothly until u hit 3000 rpm, so im pretty sure and dont wNt to believe i have timing issue. I then was thinking by mAybe my converter in the exhaust was stopped up, so I took it and had the pipe cut off still no dice. Then I went ahead and changed out the coil pack, no luck, then just yesterday, i had my mechanic change out ignition switch to no avail, now hes thinking it's the crank shaft sensor, I don't really know what else to try, anyone have any ideas I'd really appreciate it. I'm pretty sure it's got something to do with the firin
g, like I said when I hIt 3000 rpm it's just like someone turns the key off. Thanks for any Info.

Have you checked the codes? That is usually a good place to start. From there you can start eliminating items.

Not running well enough to be able to get them, I tried. but tks anyhow

Its been a while since I pulled codes, but I believe you can get the stored codes without having to start the car. It's the first set with the Key on Engine off. Can be done with a paperclip.

Hmmm.... almost sounds like a bad ground or something. My car did that the other day when I hit a bump, any kind of gas pedal caused it to flood out. A lot of times that problem is a throttle position sensor. I can walk you thru the test if you wanna shoot me a call sometime. I'll be home all weekend.

Eric, I got oil slinging down on my crank sensor, u think that would cause it? It's dumping so much gas it can't startfor a while after it floods out, but when it finally does decide to start it will idle smooth as long as I want it to, I can even drive it as long as I don't hit 3000

Start with getting the codes stored in the computer. It's easy to try and may shed light on the cause of your problem.

Nice clean threads.. almost looks like someone went a hour down the road to find a Lowes or something to get a new set of taps because maybe the old holes were too small and the old bolts pulled out.. ;)

Well, those stock ones fail in that fashion normally. Boat had one come apart a few years back on his. I still say the one you had was off something else.. There were some 2 peice aluminum pulleys back in the day, I figured someone would have recognised it.

Yup, my stock one on the 93 ATX failed and sawed the lower timing cover in two, came close to getting the timing belt itself. Has a Dorman replacement on it now.
