Sorry if this has been answered, but I did search and I didnt find exactly what I needed.

I got my SHO with no HU or amps. Speakers are all there though. It is starting to get driven but it sucks not having a radio. I want to throw in a cheap one just for now. I have installed many complete systems so that is not a problem for me. My question is this. From what I can tell, I have one plug in the dash for the HU and several in the trunk where the amps used to be. I know I get the kit with amp bypass right. Now I wire up the HU as normal and the amp bypass goes in the trunk?

Just want to make sure I get this figured out before I get started. Not being able to see how the stock system was wired makes it a little more difficult. Thanks

You can either get the amp bypass for the trunk, and the other harnesses to make it all plug and play...

OR!

There's another connector in-dash that you can use to wire your headunit directly to your speakers.

WHY IS THIS?

Because from the factory, the speakers are dual wired. One harness goes to the trunk for amps, and the other goes directly to the speakers (I figure this was for Taurus' that had the lowest possible stereo...ie:no trunk amps at all).

I forget what the connector looks like, I think it's grey, but it has wires running straight to the speakers. You can simply lop the end off and wire your speaker outputs straight into it.

Someone will probably chime in with the picture. It labels all of the connectors. Or you could keep searching the electronics and audio section. Have you tried searching "amp bypass"?
