You can get new GM Pontiac GP arms for under $200 delivered and the bushing set from SHONut for ~$50 delivered. All that is needed on the GEN 1&2s is the H brace from your vendor of choice at ~$40. IMHO the GEN3s may not need the H brace as it appears to be a bit beefier than previous Taurus designs.

GM part number was...1026299

I don't mean to be the stupid one but what do the adjustable control arms do? What can you adjust with them?

They allow the rear camber and toe to be adjusted(a big plus on lowered cars). And they stiffen up the rear a lot. Makes it easier to toss the back end out. Hehe. wink

Do the aluminum ones have any rubber, or, better yet, poly bushings? I would assume the bushings would help reduce transmission of road noise, right?

The BMR adjustable lateral links should install on a Taurus with the same installation kit that Josh sells for the stock GM adjustable lateral links. The BRM units look very nice and having greaseable polyurethane bushings and being powder coated, are both really big pluses. They look to be heavier than either the Ford stock stamped non-adjustable units or the GM adajustable lateral link which are both 2.80 lbs each. They don't note the material, so I E-mailed the Tech line and asked.

Hmmm. Looks like my prices for the years has not been too far off. $180x2= 360 AND you'll of course need to add some spacers for the inner mounts, and be sure the inner diameter of the bushings fit your metric bolts, OR at least have to hassle with drilling them out to another size (toque box can be a bit difficult to get to) add in some brake plugs.

I'd be a bit concerned about the wall thickness at the inner bushing for the toque box of the SHO- this is quie thin material up against some real worn sheet steel on your car now. Meaning the inner bushing may dig into your worn out 100k mile, rusty, bent, mount. At least ask them if they can do up some thicker ones or maybe offer up some spacers for improved mating at this juncture.

By the time you're done this will be a $400+ job, but you WILL be much happer with them.

I would always install an H-box brace in a Taurus when upgrading to anyone's tubular lateral links just for that reason.

I suggest getting the aluminum control arms from Doug at FPS, they are made for the SHO so there isn't any need for any other kits to make them fit. WClewis took a few pics of the FPS control arms at my car at Summit Point, but the link to the pictures doesn't work anymore. Maybe he could post a new link. For the money I think they are the best, they have stainless steel heim (sp) joints so there is not flex in the joint. Of course this is just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Since the stock SHO and the GM stock and the aftermarket heavy duty trailing arms for GM all have either rubber or poly bushings, wouldn't rigid arms transmit harshness? Just wondering, otherwise, I do think the Aluminum/stainless made for the SHO would be the way to go.

A fellow Iowa SHO owner bought them... Eric Wieland (speedy91) for ~$300 I believe... he was elated @ the price and looks like for good reason from what I've heard about the TCE arms. Got another set? I know you've said before you'd never make them again, that's too bad. Anyways maybe Eric will pipe in, but I think it was ~$300.
