The only additive I use is the fuel additive Chevron Techron every 5-6 months and use it on long road trips.

About 2.5 oz of Redline SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner per tank of gas. Keeps the injectors and valves clean and acts as an upper cylinder lubricant.

I wanted to try the leak stop stuff to try and stop my leak till I get the time to fix it, but worry that it will leave a mess of goop on every bottom end part. am I right or is that stuff safe to use?

I just got done using the AUTO-RX in my oil although it is more of a one time treatment and not an additive. Very good results.

Auto-RX cleans the crap outta your engine slowly over a few hundred miles. I was amazed at the difference on my SE and my SHO when I did them. The SHO had a slight honey tint to the heads when I looked in the oil fill hole, but after 1000miles with Auto-RX the metal is clean looking.

Oil, from the front main seal I think.

If that stuff would help slow my oil consumption (I suspect I'm losing it past the rings) down then I might give it a try. What do you think? Isn't one of the ideas behind it that it will get rid of the carbon between the rings, thus freeing them and letting them seal better? Do you think at 154,000 miles my ring seal could be improved? Using about a quart of redline oil every 1000 miles.

BTW Paul, you are the devil for pointing me towards the Bobistheoilguy forum. thumbs_u eek! I was up till 5 am last night reading stuff there. There's way too much stuff about Auto-Rx for me to stand it reading any more right now. Let me know what you think.

That place is like **** for guys with an oil fetish. eek!

Lucas Power Steering. Works like a charm to alleviate "notchy" steering on cold mornings.

Lucas Transmission. Been known to smooth out some rough-shifting ATX's. Haven't needed it myself.

Just ordered some of the Auto-RX per Paul's recommendation from a couple of weeks ago.

Berryman's fuel additive to clean out the injectors.

I wouldn't add anything to the oil. There's nothing you can really add to it to improve it's natural oiling properties.

I've used Wynn's engine stop leak on my van because it was burning oil that was getting past the rings. Oil consumption went down from 1 quart per 700 miles to 1 quart per 6000 miles! I don't know if it will work as good on leaky valve seals or a front main seal though.
