I bought an ACT Sensor today

Motorcraft DY-670
The part is stamped F2DF-12A897-AA

The part is plactic and Brass (Metal?) with teflon around the threads? I thought the SHO was plastic.

The Ford Part that I mentioned above F2DF-12A897-AA is actually a DY-674 for 5.0 Engines

Is this the right part. The box states DY-670

Thanks,

Scott

FYI, I have seen about 4-6 mis-boxes at Ford this year. The 670 is the right part number, the part should be black plastic.

That's interesting... I just bought one from FPN and two from a local Ford dealer, boxed as DY-681. All three were brass with grey plastic o-ring connector housing. BTW the one from FPN was 8.00 MORE than my local dealer, and I've noticed the same over pricing by FPN on a couple of other things.

OOPS, my bad. I misread the original post as ECT. What's an ACT?

ya know I just got one at autozone also, and it was brass. I'm just going to thread it into one of my spare boxes and see how it works.

EDIT: The correct part number should be: F32Z-12A697-C

I did a cross-reference between Ford and Motorcraft and that's what I came up with

Hey, I just got one of those at Autozone too. I was getting a KOEO 114 code, so I replaced it. After replacing the ACT I still get 114 and 172, which I assume is being caused by a bogus range given by the ACT. What else could cause the 114 to keep croping up? Bad wiring? If so, what's the best way to rectify this?

If it's really cold outside, ignore the ACT code for now.

Test it again when the temp gets above 50F.

You can always test the resistance of the sensor. Its resistance is inversely proportional (not linear, though) to the temp. The chart I have shows a low resistance of 1.18K at 248F with the other endpoint reading of 58.75K at 50F.

Corrosion in the connections or an open/short can also cause the 114.

I've noticed a large number of posts (including my own) that include ACT codes in the last two or three months. I don't recall any during the warm weather last year.
