I have narrowed the problem with my sticky gas pedal down to the pivot shaft for the pedal assembly. I took a look at it yesterday when I had my dash off for a BDA replacement. The pivot shaft apears to have a couple bushings on it. Can anyone verify this? I'd really like to know.

This sticky gas pedal is a real annoyance since it's almost impossible to have any smooth pedal movement.

I'd also like to know if anyone has removed the single return spring from the trottle body. I believe this may help as well. Thanks for the help.

Is there any way that the cruise control is sticking? The black line that runs to the TB. This happened on a few of my SHO's and on my brothers. As for the gas pedal i've never removed mine so i can't help you there.

I thought it might have been the CC cable from reading of others' experiences. I removed the CC cable from the TB several days with no change noticed. Thanks for the suggestion.

Caution: Removing the return spring from the throttle shaft on the throttle body will prevent the throttle from closing when the gas pedal is released. You will be creating a wide open throttle condition that cannot be closed from the passenger compartment. That spring is the only device returning the throttle to the closed position. Check out this topic for a diagnostic approach to the sticky throttle condition.

I appreciate the warning. But I am well aware of what the return springs do. If you look at the TB you will see two springs. One is a single spring and the other is a double spring. The single and double springs are each on their own post on the TB. By taking the single spring off its post and letting it rest against the cable bracket some of the tension it provides to close the throttle plate is reduced. The double spring is left in place. I did this yesterday and the gas pedal is now very smooth in its operation with no jerkyness. And, yes, the throttle plate closes as tightly as it did before.

I am suffering the same occasional sticky pedal as Kevin. I would lubricate the TB spring shaft only to have it get stiff again in about a month.

Would anyone suggest doing the same as Kevin and removing the single spring?

I didn't remove the single spring. It is simply in a different position so as to not provide as much tension. I still assists in returning the throttle plate to a closed position. If I experience any problems with this setup I will, of course, report them here.
