Hello everyone. About 6 montsh ago I got a 94 Sho for free! The catch is that it has 312k miles lol. Ok well when I first got it ran fine. But now sometimes iv been having problems. I have 3.

1. Sometimes if I rev the engine in park all the way, when I let off the gas the engine will proceed to idle at 2100 rpms.

2. After letting off the gas at slow speed 25-50 the rpms dip down to 500 then jump up to about 1000-1500 then dips to 300 and stalls. This happens only sometimes

3. This is the biggest problem that happens 80% of the time. Acceleration at 1.3-3 rpms is so bad, I put the pedal half way and the car doesnt accelerate like it should and I can here the engine struggling I dont know how to describe it, but once I get past like 4000 it accelerates like it should.

oh and once more thing, when the engine stalls you can hear a Chooo sound coming from what I think is the intake, dont know if this is normal?

Welcome to SHOForum!

It sounds to me like you have a couple of issues. The idle speed issue sounds like the IAC (idle air control) is either dirty or faulty, and needs to be cleaned or replaced.

The accelerating issue sounds like it could be plugs and wires. Any idea when the last time the plugs and wires were changed? Also, pull one of the front plug wires out and see if there's oil all over it. Perhaps you need a top 60k service. (plugs, wires, valve cover seals at the least)

The sound you heard when the car stalls is normal.

Where in CT are you?

Well problem 1 & 2 could be a bad Idle Air Control unit or possibly a combination of IAC and the Throttle Position Sensor. The hesitating throttle could be the Throttle Position Sensor again, have you checked the car for codes yet?

No idea when anything was changed, when I got the car I only changed the oil. The plugs seem to be really hard to take out I dont wanna damage the wire, the book calls for a special tool.

oh btw- east windsor.

No I havnt but I just dropped the car off at mechanic to see if he can find the problem, when he calls me back I'll ask him for the codes.

I would say a 60k and rod bearings would be in order. There are a lot of info out there on how to perform the 60k service.....step by step guides on the Internet.....videos. I would suggest doing it yourself as having it done at a shop can be pricey. You may be able to find some sho forum members who could help with it. Just my 2 cents
