97 - 92

I have two sensors from a 97 set of knuckles I have and wondered if they would work. Long story short, I've never tested it since I rebuilt this thing, and one of the last little things I needed was an ABS ring. Well Its on there now, and instead of getting funny things from the pedal up until about 40 MPH or so, it would trip the light, and the ABS was off from there. Now after my first stop it trips it, sometimes its a little farther down the road, but no funny pedal vibrations like its being activated like when I had the broken ring on. Is there a way to reset the ABS computer or anything? I'll be doin some searching for that I'm sure.

Self test isn't providing me any flashing from the abs light.. :( I'm going to reset the idle / computer here in a few, and see what happens.

Just stabbing in the dark here, since I don't know if the tone rings changed with the Gen IIIs front hubs. If your talking about the rear spindles, then there shouldn't be any difference, as the rear hubs interchange between 1993 to 2004.

If you're talking about the front hubs, then I would look to see if the number of teeth on the tone rings are the same. Logic would dictate that all four wheels would have to have the same number of teeth on each tone ring, so the sensors would generate the same frequency signal at any given speed. If the number of teeth on the Gen III tone rings is different than Gen IIs and this logic holds true, then the ABS would be sensing that one wheel (or three) are traveling slower then the other(s), depending on which has fewer teeth.

So, count the number of teeth on the damaged/cracked tone ring you removed and the two from the 97 knuckles.

Well... actually, the tone rings are origional to the 92. I only used the calipers and brackets from the 97 set... well that and the ABS sensors. Funny thing I noticed yesterday, after driving a block or two and waiting at the stop light the ABS light went back off. Then came back on again after driving a little. I'm going to make a better jumper wire and try to pull some codes at lunch today.

Now I just drove around for a while 5 min or so all below 40 and no light. I wonder if maybe I have a bubble in there now that I can actually get out. I was trying the dirt road method, as I replaced the master cyl ALL steel lines, lines, calipers, rotors pads. so I know there was air in the system. But before with the bad ring, sender whatever you wanna call it, The ABS would kick in on a hard stop in gravel, but then trip itself over 40. Now it acts normal, but the light just comes on @ 40 so I dont know whats up. The self test dosent seem to want to work either, maybe the connectors are bad, and need cleaning there, but all my crap is in a storage area now.. (moving fun) so I'm somewhat limited on tools at this point.

Ok... now from my research, they all have different part numbers. I'm assuming they are longer / shorter where they need to be. But are the sensors themselves the same? Should operate in the same way I would think.
