If the compressor seizes on an ATX SHO, the belt should still run fine correct?? My A/C doesnt work and while the car is running I can put my hand on the compressor pulley since its not spinning and I guess the belt just slides along the pulley part.. Am I correct in this assumption?

The compressor pulley only freewheels until the clutch in engaged then it spins the rest of the compressor. If it were not turning you would know right away.

I wonder if im jumping the gun on replacing everything..

Low coolant usually causes the clutch to cycle like crazy... is there ever a time that the clutch wont engage at all from no pressure at all??? Barring any electrical problems.. Even jumpering the clutch connector clutch it wont engage.

If you jump the low coolant switch and the clutch coil fails to turn into a magnet then the clutch coil is not working, ie it needs to be replaced! rangerj.

Note: do yourself a favor and replace the clutch coil, pulley, and clutch face as an assembly. That way you get all new clutch surfaces and a new pulley bearing.

You can double check the coil by applying battery voltage to the coil directly via the coil connecting wires. If it fails to turn into a magnet it is due for replacement.
