I have a 92 MTX and I know the brakes are smaller pre 94. Well, I just picked up a complete 94 Parts car and i figured i'd swap the brakes from the 94 onto my 92. are the back brakes bigger as well on the 94? and do I have to swap anything with the proportioning valve or just change the spindles and brake components. Is this even worth it or should I just go for the 96+ brake upgrade.

On a 92 you have vented rear rotors. On the 94 you have solid rear rotors of the same size. There is a weight advantage moving to the 94's, but braking performance is better with the 92's. For the front brakes, regardless of either the 94-95 or 96 upgrade you'll need to spindles and calipers off of your 94. I'd say it would all depend on the condition of the rotors on the 94. I'd get new pads even if the ones on the parts car are good just for piece of mind. So if the 94 rotors are junk, just go all the way up to the 96. You can do a search on here and find the aftermarket source for the brackets. If the rotors still have some meat left on em, slap some new pads on and be on your way! There is no need to change the proportioning valve or anything else.

are the 96+ brakes the same way? just bolt on the spindles and brake compononents? do third gen slos have the same brakes as the SHO? or will I have to get the spindles specifically from a SHO, i have noticed most slos have drum rear brakes.

I used 94' SHO Calipers when I did the 96' Brake upgrade. I just bought the "FN74" brackets and 96' rotors.
