Hi everyone- I'm planning an MTX swap into a 1995 ATX body, and want to keep the VAPS steering.

Does anyone know where I can get engine bay and dash harnesses from a 1994 or 1995 MTX car.

I have all the other parts, as I have a rusty 1993 donor car, but would really prefer the VAPS.

(would love to retrofit my sable SHOwagon with this setup as well!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

SV&HOdan- I just saw this... that would be awesome! If you are willing to part with it (them) I'd like to buy them.

Please let me know if you find them.

so far I've found the segment of a '94 harness that connects the fuel injectors, crank sensor plug, etc. will keep looking for the main harness but it doesnt look good for that.

Hey Dan which year harnesses did you send me?

I will have an mtx harness for sale from a 1995 here shortly. I just need to assemble my auto lift I bought and i'll be stripping the car. I don't know how much of a rush you're in. I don't think it has vaps. I'll have to check.

I wasn't planning on pulling the dash but i'll do it to refresh my memory again and pull the harness for you. I should be able to do this within the next two weeks three at most. I have to get rolling on my project, but I want to strip that car first.

If your car is a 1995, it should have VAPS. If it does, and you are willing to pull the the engine bay and dash harnesses - I'd like to buy them! If you're stripping the whole car - I'd take the body harness as well. I'm not in a super rush... It's a summer/fall project but I'd like to retrofit my SHOwagon as well. Shosource is looking into it for me too, but they might only have 1 car's worth. I'm looking for two.
Please let me know... You can email me at [email protected]

Thanks;
Dave

I have heard that the swap (ATX car/engine to MTX trans) can be accomplished by just changing some of the EEC connector pins to accommodate the MTX computer and providing wiring for the clutch interlock. Might be easier than rewiring the whole thing especially the dash.

If anyone has the information mentioned above, it would be great to document it on this forum as a sticky or a "how-to".

This information is going away, and time is running out to grab it.

I accidentally bought a 93 ATX car that was converted to MTX.

When I read the codes, the result is a list of ATX codes like input and output speeds in the transmission do not compute. So I am pretty sure all the ATX underhood electronics remain ATX.

That required some wizardry with the wiring or components that I would like to understand.

There has been no downside to this conversion, so it could be the sensible swap method, especially that 2 fan set up on the rad is retained.

This all changes if you have emission testing that requires the service lights to be off while running, but on when the key is first turned on.
