When I bought the car it had no clutch, the throw out bearing was toast.... I was able with the car off to get it in reverse and start in reverse. When I got home I tried putting it in reverse with the car off, I was not able to. Then I thought after I got the clutch in I could put it in..... still nothing.

Also.... how the **** do you put fluid in the tranny? I was able to drain it.... but can't find any place to fill it

I am in northeast Wichita. We should get together sometime. I have a 94 ATX and a 91 MTX. Have other SHO guys in Wichita, me, Joe, Siman, and a few others not on the forum. We also Have a guy in Hutch. To answer your question, their is no drain plug on the MTX, only a fill plug.

I hope you did not remove the detent plunger retaining bolt, but you'll be soooooorrrry. That could explain no reverse.

there's a plug in the bottom of the tranny, it's a bolt looks just like a drain for oil..... drained and reinserted
but ya that'd be great to get us all together, but I gotta finish getting my car together =)

Also the problem started before I took that plug out (only long enough to drain) and it's doing the same now as then, goes into all the other gears just fine.... it doesn't grind or anything trying to go into reverse just feels like it isn't there, you pull back where it would be and it drops it over to 4th

That plug won't drain all the old fluid out and it is a fork interlock retaining bolt. It should not be used to drain oil. You have a 92 right? Have some one look under the car while you shift. It sounds like your rod shifter has a problem. You probably have quite of bit of slack in the rod and the gates of the transmission are not meeting up.

I still haven't been able to fill the tranny up with fluid just yet, but it has a little still in it. I put washers and bolts in to replace the bushings for the rod shifter.... tried reverse again it still feels like there's nothing there it just drops into fourth. when the clip arrives for the cv shaft I'll put the shaft back in and fill the fluid up where it's supposed to be but at a guess that won't help.... it's been up on jackstands this whole time so it's not like I'm driving it around low on fluid
