Mainly whether or not an old Taurus can be worth that kind of money. Some people will always see it as a POS Taurus and tear it down regardless of how nice it is. Some of us are appreciating these lower mileage cars and wanting to see the values go up.

The Moonlight Blue 95 that I bought last weekend is the highest I've ever paid for a SHO and I feel that I got a fair price based on its condition yet alone it's history. That being said, I wouldn't even consider selling my 91+ for the same amount.

Ah, yes, the price.

Honestly, I think these low-mileage minty examples are already, and will continue to, go up in value. Especially the Gen1s, and definitely the 89s. I'm guilty of probably over-paying for one myself, and I have no regrets.

On the flip side, Hagerty and some of the classic car insurance companies officially consider them classics now. My white '90 insured for 5 digits. Hagerty's pricing guide puts #1 cars at like $14k and #2 at $7700. Obviously take that with some massive chunk of salt, but value starts somewhere.

It's very difficult with these cars. They were kind of just fancy Taurses, and so many have been driven into the ground after their time as a "cheap fun car for a 20 year old" that they essentially did become crappy old Taurses... but a good, pristine, well-cared-for example is difficult to find and in my worthless opinion an under-appreciated classic car.

I can also totally understand it's hard for people who have been wrenching on and cussing at these cars for 10-30 years to see them as classics.

ALL of that being said, there are at least half a dozen SHOs being listed at absolutely stupid prices at any given time on the Internet and that makes it super easy to be jaded about prices, too. LOTS of SHOs are $500-$1500 cars and people are getting stupid because the nice ones are selling for good money.

I don't care if your 90k mile White 93 ATX is super clean, it is not worth $4500+ unless it's unique in some way
Unless your MTX is super special, if it's not running, $2k is too much money

A one-owner 89, with under 50k miles? $10k car.......... Easy! And even that's low, compared to what a comparable Fox body would sell for.

It doesn't matter what the SHO people here, or on Facebook, will pay. These cars are attracting the interest of people outside the community, who want quality cars, and not $1,500 shitboxes.

It's actually silver but I'm glad to have found one with such low miles. One question ....seems to be missing a plate down by the driver seat on the floor. It looks like there should be a cover for a button that says push to lock ____(something, I can't read it in the pictures) near gas door release

Take a picture and post it here, someone on the forum may have the part you are missing

If it's around the gas and trunk release levers, those might be common for the regular taurus and the SHO. That's a valet lock to keep people out of the trunk.
