Anyone ever run 225/60/16 or 225/55 on the slicer. I am getting rid of my 17's and looking to buy new tires for my slicers. Only asking because it seems like there is a little better selection at those sizes. I would prefer the 60 series as it covers up for some of the large wheel gap.
Thanks, Mike

225/60/16's on slicers will rub the strut about 98% of the time. I've only seen one or two sets of tires that size that didn't rub.

I ran 225/55's for over 15k until the day I sold the green 92, no problems! :thumb: That was with Intrax too! ;)

I was running 225/60's, and just got new 225/55's on the 95 MTX. Both worked well, but I have 16x7" American Racing Estrellas, not slicers. I think I actually prefer the 55's even though it shows a bit more gap on the front.

I think the majority of people with 16" rims run 225/55 or 225/50's. Personally I have run Dunlop Sport A2 ( I think) in the 225/55. I recently put Avon 225/55 on so the size works for me. 225/50's are a little short for me and there will be a big gap between the fender and the tire.

Once upon a time, my 91 Mocha came with 225/60-16's on Canadian slicers, without rubbing. I did not, nor would I order them that way.

I run 225/55-16 all over the place on slicers. It bulges a bit for the 6" slicer (fits better on the 6.5" Gen 3 wheels), but gives a good contact patch. No mentionable increase in harshness.

For winter tires you want narrower, not wider though.

I ran 225/60/16 Firestone SZs on slicers. Din't have any rubbing issues. It slows the car down acceleration wise though. Great for the highway.

sounds like 225/60 is an option. First I need to get rid of my 17" American racing Estrella rims unless I find an inexpensive set of 17" all season tires preferably in the 225/50 as to not have a ton of wheel gap.
