In my 2015 Ford Taurus SHO, should the passenger air bag light be off when no one is in the seat or a light weight is in it? Shouldn't it be on when someone is in it and it should say on?? I think m understanding is right but I am not sure. Any help is appreciated.

Light should come on at start up for 6 seconds and then go out. If it stays on, there is a problem with the system.

Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) Indicator

The RCM controls the state of the Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) indicator based on information provided by the OCS system. The PAD indicator is illuminated to indicate the passenger air bag module is disabled. An exemption to this is when the front passenger seat is determined to be empty, and therefore indication of a deactivated passenger air bag module is not necessary. In all other cases, the PAD indicator is off when the passenger air bag module is enabled.

The RCM briefly activates the PAD indicator to prove-out the indicator function and verify to the front occupants correct functional operation of the PAD indicator.

Not exactly sure what you are asking. The passenger air bag light should always indicate either off or on, depending on the load on the seat. From the service manual:

PAD Indicator

The RCM controls the state of the PAD indicator via the HS-CAN and I-CAN . The PAD indicator state is based on information that the OCSM provides to the RCM . When the passenger air bag is activated, the PAD indicator displays ON. If the RCM has deactivated the passenger air bag, the PAD indicator displays OFF.

The RCM briefly activates the PAD indicator to prove out the indicator function and verify proper functional operation of the PAD indicator to the front occupants.

The following table indicates the passenger air bag and PAD indicator status based on the size of the front passenger occupant.
