Most of the time it works great, but from time to time, and more frequently in recent months, once I push Lock and then Start twice, the lights just flash once and then nothing, then about 10 seconds later, a single horn honk. I can then try 50 times, and it will not work.

When this occurs, about 95% of the time, it will not Remote Start until I start the car and then **** it. However, a few times, it has worked on the second attempt.

Ford factory remote start? 1) Car battery and/or 2) Fob battery is going ... going ... Hopefully situation is not bad enough to require re-programming of the keys to vehicle by dealer.

Yes, factory remote start. Everything else works fine and range is good, seems like this only happens in the edge of th range. Which would be fine, except once it happens once, I can walk right next to to the car and it still won't work until I start the car and **** it.

That means there is a problem with the vehicle. My guess would be weak battery or the check engine light had been set.

From my own personal experience, it will fail to remote start 100% of the time when the temps outside are 0 or below and it has been a day or more since I last drove it (e.g. Monday morning). It's a factory remote start, and I attributed it to the battery not registering enough juice for it to safely start. If I'd driven it the day before, I've gotten it to remote start when the temps were as low as -15 (wind chill -30).

I have never had a problem. One issue battery related might be this: anytime the battery is disconnected the BMS (battery maintenance system) must be reset. This is done by the dealer. Also never charge the battery using the negative terminal as this also messes with the BMS.

I had the same issue it's the car battery weak. I had new one put in the car and zero issues since then. The ford dealer said the same thing when I told him the issue I was having.
