Impulse buy last weekend. SHO's weren't even on my radar, in fact I wasn't even looking to buy a car. This one popped up on facebook for no good reason and the more I thought about it the better it looked. The last owner was an amateur mechanic and had performed lots of service on car. After I spoke with him over phone I was comfortable with making the drive to pick it up. Not sure what I'm going to do with this car. The hot rodder in me wants to supe it up but the reality is miles are a little high for me to beat on car unless I'm willing to start replacing parts right away. More than likely It'll be my daily for at least a while. I love the ride so far and looks are great with the meaty wheels.
I've still got a lot to learn about this generation of SHO but I've looked into the PTU and water pump failures. My car has 130k and PTU has been tapped for drain plug. Also, coolant has been recently replaced. My first question is how do I know if I have performance package? This car has no spare and the 20k wheels. The online window sticker generator didn't work when I entered VIN.

Welcome. It will have a traction control deactivate button. Plus there should be an air compressor in the trunk. No alcantra steering wheel or seats in 2012 if I recall. To check the traction control. Place your foot on the brake and hold the button for 10 seconds. The readout on the dash should be different than just pressing the button for a second.
Also if you have radar cruise control, not very likely you have a performance pack.
