I got it on my 2010 Fusion , and paid for it.
Its a tri-coat , its more of a complicated paint. So it costs more.

Basically this ^. The pearl is a mix of pearl flakes and clear and gets sprayed on after the basecoat, but before the normal layer of clear, so it requires an extra step in the paint shop, meaning more $$.

My 1 1/2 month new-to-me 2011 SHO has the White Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat and I did the unspeakable by closing the garage door on the back bumper. One of our area body shops is renowned for their craftsmanship and I took it there for repair.
I left it on a Friday morning while I was enroute to Myrtle Beach for a weekend of golf and picked it up Tuesday upon my return. $452 and a perfect match.
With a good body shop there is no such thing as not being able to match the paint.
