I hope they don't put me into the SHO class again this year since as nice as my car is it's still got nothing on a lot of SHOs out there.

Anyway, it was nice seeing everybody last year and below is my registration to help out with the tent.

I'm hoping to go to Carlisle events in the future too, Jeff. Oil just hit another all time high today, and a weak dollar continues to add to the problem. The good news is that a survey of oil industry executives that was just released finds that 55% of those polled believe that the cost oil will return to around $100/barrel (or less) by next spring...Whether we will see any significant drop in prices at the pump by next year remains to be seen. It will be interesting to see if the elections later this year will have any impact on the market.

Not to get too far off subject but the way gas is going, I don't think the prices will drop anytime soon.

And what route will you guys be taking, if I take the northern Indiana route?

You guys taking the Indiana Troll Road, or dropping down to I-70, via I-65 . . . ?

Hey Tom,

We will be coming through Milwaukee at about 9 a.m. and then heading south to grab I-80.

Will wait to hear from Tony if there is something different going on....

Wow! All the way from Wisconsin? I'm impressed.

Precisely why I truly don't think it matters how many classes we have or who wins!! It's all about who shows up and the camaraderie!! This is a great group and we have a blast no matter what.

:thankyou: :sun: :woohoo:

I can't recall ever not having a good time at Carlisle, even when it rains! (It seems that it always rains at some point during the All Fords Nationals) What could be better than being in the presence of acres of Blue Oval iron?

One of the best Indy 500 weekends, was a Time Trials weekend that the opening Saturday was almost rained-out.

We're were lucky enough that day to get in line very close to the 16th Street entrance near Turn 1. Prior to the construction of bleachers in turn one, the area was known by race fans as "the Snake Pit" - and for good reason.

Anyway, even though there was a forecast for rain, we drove the 70 miles and spent Friday evening doing the Time Trials ritual of cruising West 16th Street all night long, until the Indy PD allowed us to park in-line on the grass awaiting gate-opening.

As I said, we were lucky and got the highly coveted spot against the fence in turn one. Shortly after the track opened for warm-up laps, rain started. Before long a series of large "mud-puddles" formed in the grass where people were driving to find parking. Well, it doesn't take too much beer, a bunch of race fans needing their annual 500 speed-fix, before someone gets in their car and begins making (relatively) high-speed runs and power-slides through the "puddles". And the games began . . . .

After a few passes and hugh showers of flying grass, water, and a little mixed-in mud - the crowd begins to respond with shouting, roars of encouragement, and it's own spectator "section". Kevin, who owned a 1974 Maverick Grabber with a very well built 289, six-pack, and others goodies under the hood that we took that weekend was prodded into joining the "festivities". You should have seen the hugh rooster-tails and curtains of water those oversized Micky Thompson tires threw-up. While the "pony police" eventually showed-up to stop everyone, we had a **** of a time even though it was hours before anyone even attempted to qualify. It's one of those high school memories I'll never forget . . . .

Oh, did I mention all the scantly-clad women that eventually weren't, after they somehow got all wet . . . ?

:naughty:

It's 60/40 for me right now. I do have my reservation at Comfort Inn for Friday and Saturday (anyone know how early we can check in Friday?). And I may be dragging a second person with SHO-in-tow along, if he can get off work.

It's an issue of gas and cash - how high gas keeps climbing versus how much cash-on-hand . . . .
