more cars = more leverage and terry takes care of the stuff with carlisle staff
Jeff
I've tried to contact Terry by email several times with the idea of breaking out the different generations of SHO's into their own classes at Carlisle this year based on last year's huge turnout...I've never gotten any response from her. Last week I left a note on her car windshield asking for an email or phone call. I still haven't heard from her... Does anyone here know how to contact her?

When I talked to the director at Carlisle I told him there were three distinct "generations" of the Taurus SHO. There could possibly be a division for stock and modified for each generation giving a total of 6 separate classes on the showfield. Last year, there seemed to be enough cars entered from all three generations to do this. He was more than willing to do this for us, if we give him a car count by May 19th.
Dividing up the field into several classes would have NO effect on the club count for the tent deal.

If that's a motion, I second, Mel's second of the motion . . . .
There's two way's to play this - you could point out that having the added classes would likely *increase* participation.

one good year does not mean much (I think last year was the first year we got the tent free ) so give us some preregistration number that we can SHOw
carlisle productions that were serous about it
trying to line up the cars in generations may sound good but trying to do it is another story. You got people coming and going all day and you really don't have a lot of space to let areas open to let the right gens in.
as MEL will tell you its first come first serve for parking
just trying to make this the fun weekend like it is always
That's a good question. Sometimes the number of "mods" gets to be a problem to define so that everyone agrees. The idea is to set up more than just one HUGE class of SHO's. Maybe a V-6 and V-8 class would be a start...

It would only work if there were different classes for each Generation.
Sorry if I seem a bit cranky. I was on track all day, then a 7.5 hour drive home to a telephone message regarding the SHO classes.
I think the concentration should be on getting us as the featured car in next years program for the 20th anniversary.
Perhaps before we change things up there should be an opinion poll. There probably isn't enough time to do it here, so put forth a survey at the event...
Like I said - more chances for SHOs to place in the fun field is a good thing, but I'm not interested in it if it becomes a bone of contention. WHO is going to police the modifications???
BEDTIME!!!

I like the idea Terri has about the feature car being us for the 20th anniversary. I think that would be a great focus!
As far as this year goes.....I only care about getting a bunch of us there!!! This is only my second year but we are trying to make this a yearly ritual. We have so much fun that I don't think it matters right now about dividing up into classes, as much as it matters to get us all there each and every year!
Okay then..................on that note, I can't wait 'til June 5th!!!
:woohoo:
I'll be bringing my easy up tent like last year!!

The idea of having a class for each SHO generation makes a lot of sense. (That was the original idea.) With regard to stock vs. modified, we all know that stock cars generally don't stand a chance against modified cars in a "popular" vote show. Most of us know what a "modified" car is, but there are always going to be "rule benders" who will disagree.
