This fall, I was hit on the passenger side by a 75 years old women who doesn't even give me excuse... :S I repared all I can by myself but the fender was scrap and the 2 doors are damaged. Luckily, I found another RM SLO in my area for some parts (the windsheild washer tank is unique to 1996...:S). Now, I'm fighting with my insurance car company to just not have the scrap state for it.

Oh no!!!! Thankfully you found another Rose Mist! What did you grab from the SLO for parts?

Hi,

Not sure of the word, a fender ? The body part around the front wheel and the bastard large plastic part which have the color of the car under the hood. I recommand at all of you to keep one in reserve because this holy crap part broke with any small front impact and because this part have the rare color (same on SHO and SLO, listed at around 800$). I also took a fuel door (just in case), a 1996 user manual and a thing I tought I will never see : pen shaped Rose mist paint touch up made by Ford ! It's very old, not sure if the paint it's still good. (Sorry for the gigantic size.)
Red night mist touch up 2

I finnaly made an arrangement with insurance company car without the scrap mention and enough money to repair it, this guy is really a good one.

Hi Matt !
If you need part for yours (to rebuilt the interior), I spotted 2 1996 like 2 weeks ago in PA of which 1 was for parts for around 700$ (with trans problems). I put them on my 1996 big list (I can retrace them if you want). Good to read that your project it's rolling again !

A fender is the correct word! haha. I believe the large plastic part you're talking about is the radiator core support. Anyways, I'm extremely surprised that it broke the core support, got any pics of the damage it had before you repaired it?

Yes, I will send you them e-mail because they are too large for here.

Update :
By the way these parts are assembled, the core support is very sensitive and fragile. First, is made from plastic and second, the most advenced part of the fender is bolted to it. Then if you receive a small impact on the front corner of the vehicule, this plastic cracks and broke all the time. I seen many in scrapyards.

My insurance company want to scrap the car because this part was broken. (!?) Saying this part is a frame one... They finally understand after a good wrestling fight.

Ordered a Deluxe Marti Report today from Marti Auto Works. Should receive an emailed PDF of the report in about 2-3 weeks, and a letterhead print out of the same report by mail in another 7-14 days after that. After doing some reading, this report is certified by Ford, so we'll recieve a concrete certified production number for the Rose Mist SHO, as well as learn more info about my car. I'm pretty sure the 86 number is coming from the same source they'll pull info from, so hopefully it doesn't increase haha. The report cost $46 and having the letterhead print out of the report sent by mail cost another $10 after shipping charges and such.

Here's an example of what the one I'll recieve will look like:

Just curious, is there such a thing as a Rose Mist wagon?

I have seen a few Rose Mist vulcan or duratec powered wagons.

When paired in person SHO with SLO, they are the exact same color, I could not see a difference.

Barney got a replacement alternator today, first one's bearings and voltage regulator went bad (both of my problems were caused by these), put the replacement one in and voila! No more electrical issues!

Motorcraft, NAPA, or ...
Local guy with his own auto electrical business rebuilt it, so it's still the OEM motorcraft one, got the issues resolved for free since he was the one who did the work in the first place. :D

Doesn't matter with 'the alternator game'.

I've seen 'em all die an infant death shortly after installation. Even seen a Motorcraft burst into flames once.

It is a total crap-shoot with V8 SHO alternators.

Would you recommend him? I have a alternator that needs a regulator and needs to be tested.
