My heater hose popped recently, and all I could do for the time being was to replace it with a bit of 5/8th's, a bit of 3/4th's, and a coupler, but I've already gone through one coupler, and I'm not too enthusiased about this 2nd one.

Ford/fast parts network has them listed as:

E9DZ-18472-E Genuine Ford outlet heater hose
E9DZ-18472-D Genuine Ford inlet heater hose

and Rockauto.com has them listed as:

E8DZ-18472-EA
E8DZ-18472-DA

The part numbers seem pretty close, but whether or not they're the same part remains to be seen. Does anyone know whether the Rockauto part number is compatible or not? My car is a 1992, 3.0L.

Thanks in advance. :thumb:

Hamal i am assuming that these are the hoses going into the heater core...i think when all is said and done both the Ford nomber and the Rock auto number will end up being the same...when i did mine all i did was take them off and brought them to work and just matched them up with another heater hose...saved a lot of time instead of ordering them, plus i think they were cheaper too...

Yeah I thought about that, but the only problem I'm having is the hose that is 5/8th's at the heater core, and 3/4th's at the pipe. That's why I just want to use OEM hoses (or something that's reeeally close) and call it a day.

I just used 3/4" hose and a good clamp. Been like that for three years.

For the record, they're not the same.

E8DZ-18472-EA and E8DZ-18472-DA are for a Vulcan.

I had the same problem. I know this can sound a bit assanine but do it, Go To Ford, get the taperd hose that is 5/8 and 3/4. It is ment for a truck, it has a bend in it and you cut it before the bend, there is a substantial amount of material left for error, replace hose, clamps, and what not....if you can find hose like that somewhere else cheaper (9 dollars) then snag it. worked for me, i replaced all the plumbing at the time, the heater actualy gets hot now.

Just a side note of info on parts from dealers. The reason I had to use the truck hose is because it is no longer a federal law for auto makers to produce replacement parts for 10 years after production. Just a little bit of info I learned the hard way when I slid into a tree...went to go buy a bumper, tailight, and spoiler. they didnt have anything but the skematics(sp?)

Kenny, what truck is the hose that you're talking about for?

My 92 has Gates brand hoses with some part numbers, I just don't have the car here with me to get the numbers. Maybe check around with autostores who supply gates and see if they have them cheaper.
