doing a 13 in brake upgrade on my 89 (in the front). i have 94 spindles with 94 dust/water shields that bolt on to the spindle. Can i still use the shield with the thirteen inch rotor and PBR calipers or do they have to be removed?
thx in advanced

Yeah just throw them away. As an added benefit without them there you will have more cooling airflow around the rotor.

If you ever expect to take the car to the track then removing the dust shields is a good idea. It not only lets more air over the rotors it lets them radiate heat quite a bit better. With the shields there a lot of the radiated heat on that side gets reflected back to the rotor. That's the same reason a nice open-spoked wheel design is a bit better for track use, too (as opposed to, say, a slicer).

However, the slicer acts somewhat as a fan. With directional slicers, you're taking air from under the car and moving it across the back side of the brakes. I still agree for going with a more open wheel for cooling, but I haven't had too much heat related problems with the slicers.
