Sorry to hear this Mike, I know how much this shocks the Dept. While I was working we had a CO (who was a good friend) slip on a wet floor in the prison. He died suddenly when a blood clot blocked blood flow. He was two years younger then me. I still think of him often and wonder with all the fights and other stuff that happened while on duty how someone could pass away from a simple slip on the floor. There's no explaining it and I know how tough the next couple of weeks will be for everyone that worked with him...it's hard to explain the bonds that form when you rely on someone to cover your back in a life and death situations. Hope everything goes well, you guys will be in my prayers.

I feel very sorry for his wife, that's a huge burden on her now. Was he not wearing a seatbelt?

That's a sad story, but one that was completely avoidable...despite his ability to bench almost 600 pounds, he came out on the losing end in the accident by the simple fact he obviously wasn't wearing a seat belt. His wife was and she survived...he wasn't, and died...there's a lesson in there somewhere...
