From looking at mine it appears that rust is the problem. The gear is supposed to have an interference fit with the crankshaft. Crank cancer
The problem is I'm having a hard time finding a new gear and key. I'm hesitant to put a used set back on and having the same issue again. All the people I talk to at the dealerships say I'm out of luck. I guess since the engine is non-interference it's not that big of a deal to use an old gear...- squidlips

Crank cancer
Well as the title says my SHO has become a cancer victim. It looks like the crankshaft is fine but the key and the gear are toast. Anyone have any on hand or know where I could get one? Anyone ever tried welding the gear to the shaft?- squidlips

OIL LEAKS !!! I hate when it does that..
I had a problem with the salvage yard 3.2 I got. Turns out that the PO had used sealer on the cap that retains the cam bearing and seal. In doing so the oil retun grooves in the cap were cloged causing presure to build and eventualy pushing the cam seals compleatly out. It took untill the third...- squidlips

Rod bearings - plastigage

Rod bearings done at 185,800 (56k, not today)
Mine sounded alot like an octane ping at first. I drove maybe 200 miles like that. Then when I started the car to go home one evening the noise was much more pronounced. Mile 22 of my 25 mile commute and Bam! I limped it home but the damage was done. You may just need the rod bearings the mains...- squidlips

3.2 engine swap to MTX
I just finished mine. I followed the write up from shotimes.com. It went step by step with good pictures. Everything was realitivly straight forward.
