PSA Check rear subframe to body mounts for rust if you live anywhere near the salt belt

Metal looks solid just a few inches in each direction, so hopefully not too much needs cut out. It is the point where the rear sub frame mounts to the unibody of the car. There are 2 large bolts that go through a bushing in the subframe and into the body of the car. That bushing is the one in...

PSA Check rear subframe to body mounts for rust if you live anywhere near the salt belt

My uncle is a professional welder and he said he thinks he can fix it, so rather than just scrapping the car, we're gonna give it a try. It is gonna remain parked for now though.

PSA Check rear subframe to body mounts for rust if you live anywhere near the salt belt

So I picked up a nail driving through a construction site on the way home from work today. I put the car up on jack stands to find the tire damage and while doing so, this rust caught my eye. It is hidden up behind the rear wheel liner so I had to remove that to get a good look. It is where the...

    Issuesss

Those are classic symptoms of low coolant level, check coolant level and Very important, make sure there isn't water/coolant in the oil, if there is, stop driving it immediately. And the water pump is internal to the engine so it can leak into the oil which will wipe out the bearings quite...

3.5l oil pressure issue poll. How did you fix it

I had a similar experience, See: Oil Pressure Warning at idle . I had to do timing chains anyway so I threw an oil pump in it while I was in there and I haven't had the oil pressure light return in the last ~90k miles. Definitely start by checking the oil pressure with a proper gauge; I used an...

    Electronic System

Did you/they reset the BMS when the new battery was installed? Doubt the issues are caused by not resetting but it's worth a try. Ford dealer didn't reset the BMS in my dad's '13 F150, we didn't know about the BMS at all, and now here a few years later the radio will shutdown with the message...

    Dream car: Lamborghini, Porsche, or . . . ?

Hmm, might have to go with a 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator Boss 429. Only 2 were built (pretty sure I saw one in the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum many years ago, not sure if it was original) but I'd be okay with a replica, I would be more comfortable driving a replica too. There's a company...

    SHO police interceptor?

Definitely added, the "Police Interceptor" badge replaces the Taurus badge.

Temporary Misfire and Pending Low Fuel Rail Pressure Code

I mean the turbos do fail. My first one went at around 220k and the second at about 250k

Temporary Misfire and Pending Low Fuel Rail Pressure Code

My misfire hasn't returned in the last month. I did look into replacing the FPDM, I checked Tasca, but they don't list a FPDM for my car. I even looked up what the part number should be (GA8Z-9D370-A is what I found, can anyone confirm this is the part for a 2010 SHO?) but Tasca's site says...

Temporary Misfire and Pending Low Fuel Rail Pressure Code

Haven't had an issue since the 9th, so ill just monitor for now. Hmm, the injector RX thing sounds interesting. I should still have my original injectors around somewhere, maybe I can ship those out to be checked/cleaned. My garage is currently full with a 2014 Silverado that ate its own oil...

Temporary Misfire and Pending Low Fuel Rail Pressure Code

I guess I will have to catch it while it is occurring. How did you determine it was injectors over the HPFP? Also, What's the going life for the OE HPFPs? How about the injectors? I had injector issues a while ago. One time, after sitting all weekend, I noticed it started hard (like it almost...

Temporary Misfire and Pending Low Fuel Rail Pressure Code

So I was stuck in traffic on my way home from work today and started getting a misfire/shake/flashing MIL/low power episode. Luckily, the car did not stall and leave me stranded in the middle of the roundabout and there really wasn't a good place to stop so I limped it along in traffic, but then...

Car acts up then no start

Have any DTC's shown up? Can you run a scanner on it while it is acting up?

    Stop horn from beeping?

My 2010 doesn't do this but my mother's 2014 Explorer does so I suppose it was added sometime after 2010, maybe at the 2013 facelift for the Taurus? This was likely added as a safety feature. I've heard of several cases where people accidently left their cars running in their garage and ended...

When it rains, it Pours. Turbo failed on the way to the transmission shop.

2004 25k is ridiculous, a long block from Ford is only like $5300, add $1k for each turbo, and that still leaves $17k, no way labor & misc accounts for that.

When it rains, it Pours. Turbo failed on the way to the transmission shop.

Very well could be. Being mass produced, there's absolutely a variation in the reliability of any particular model. That being said, I do try to stay vigilant about maintenance/fluid changes (oil every 5k miles etc). They have not been what I would consider 'trouble free' miles. Some repairs...

Why would the previous owner do this?

So the issue I had with mine was that it wouldn't stay down. I removed mine but you can just unplug the motor to disable it. There are no limit switches, the screen works by running the motor forwards or backwards until it stalls out. On the 'up' end, the shade can't open any farther; on the...

When it rains, it Pours. Turbo failed on the way to the transmission shop.

The other one was replaced in 2020 Is it time to replace turbos?. When I did the front/left one the right/rear turbos were on back order. When I looked yesterday (after the right/rear failed) the left/front turbos are now on back order. I got lucky in that regard. Completely different failure...

When it rains, it Pours. Turbo failed on the way to the transmission shop.

I would've swapped the turbo myself in other circumstances (free labor) but they're only charging a couple hundred to install it while they're in there so, tough to argue with that.
