Rust along edge of hood and edge of trunk

To revive this post, I'm curious how others have dealt with this. I already know the cause if that Ford was having seam sealing problems for a number of production years around 2011 (the year of my SHO). They knew about it for at least a couple years before they took action (like the peeling...

    2011 SHO Damp Seat Belt

LuigiSHO, thanks for posting! From the video, it looks like the same sunroof design as in the 2011 SHO. I'll check for the track seam the next time I'm out at the car. A couple of notes for other SHO owners: once I parked the car nose up (our driveway has about a 2-3 degree slope), the leak...

2012 Peeling Fake Chrome Tail Lights

Thanks for including the pic! Great look as long as the chrome bar gets blacked out too. I blacked out the silver (not the chrome) bars on my grille, so the overall look sticks with most of the chrome. And the black (when fresh) matches the hood spears.

    2011 SHO Damp Seat Belt

Thanks, LuigiSHO. I checked the Ford sites and the seal is not listed anywhere as a separate item. Only the roof itself is shown. Not sure I want to go that far on a nearly 10-year old car (which was the first of the new -- and last -- Taurus models, so maybe it's worth keeping up?)

    2011 SHO Damp Seat Belt

Success -- the weather cooperated enough for me to to tackle the sunroof drains using lawn trimmer line. Driver's side had multiple blockages. Passenger side was still draining but enough junk came out for me to know it was worth the effort. I noted the seal on the sunroof glass is rubber (not...

2012 Peeling Fake Chrome Tail Lights

I tried chrome paint and it didn't work well enough for me, so I replaced them with SEL lights and sold the peeling ones for $25 to someone who wanted to take on the strip & paint black approach. I am VERY happy with the no-chrome ones -- a much cleaner look.

    2011 SHO Damp Seat Belt

Nature provided the downpour recommended by luigisho and I found water dripping from the headliner on the driver's side early this past week. My first move was to turn the car around in the driveway so it was nose up rather than nose down (only a couple of degrees, but it made an immediate...

Why can't our Gen 4 SHOs get the same exhaust sound as a 3.5L Ecoboost Ford GT

Yeah, got that since the GT's engine puts out 660 hp vs the SHO's 365hp (non-PP as delivered). Even so, exhaust flow is exhaust flow -- what comes in gets burned and must go out. Until the engine hits the higher performance ranges (beyond the stock SHO obviously), I can't believe the GT's...

Why can't our Gen 4 SHOs get the same exhaust sound as a 3.5L Ecoboost Ford GT

Ford Performance just posted this about the 2020 Ford GT: "New Standard Akrapovič titanium exhaust Ford Performance is also introducing the premium Akrapovič titanium exhaust as standard equipment for GT. Boasting the signature craftsmanship of these renowned race experts, this exhaust provides...

    2011 SHO Damp Seat Belt

I'm inclined to suspect the sunroof seal, given the cowl seal to the windshield was intact but still leaked so much it flooded the cabin air filter routinely. The top front of the car catches the sun year-round, so it would make sense the seals lose their flexibility. Challenge to the man-made...

    2011 SHO Damp Seat Belt

Good catch, all. I forgot to mention the sunroof drains, which I checked in late end of 2018 and didn't find any clogs. I'll check again at the first opportunity.

    2011 SHO Damp Seat Belt

Anyone have experience with a damp seat belt on the Gen4? After each heavy rain, the driver's side seatbelt is cold and damp when I pull it out. (The passenger one is dry.) I first noticed it after the interior windows started fogging from the back toward the front when the outside temperatures...

Plastic Strips each side of roof

Thanks. It would be cool if someone with 3D printing experience would see if they could make new ones! I'm sure Ford wouldn't be happy about it, but ... it would certainly be worth it for the replacement parts market.

Plastic Strips each side of roof

Thanks, Luigisho. I've seen those on the parts diagrams from Ford but haven't (yet?) found the end caps themselves. If I find them, I'll post the info.

Plastic Strips each side of roof

Nice touch up. I'll curious to see how long it lasts. Has anyone found a source for the end caps? Two of mine are completely gone and the other two are crumbling.

    MRT axle back

Thanks for posting. Pretty much convinces me not to mod my exhaust. My other car is a Mustang 5.0 GT, so my ears will always be looking for the V-8 rumble, which clearly isn't going to happen from a V-6. Better to stay in stealth mode (SHO's are good at that!) than draw unwanted attention.

    Spark Plugs

Thanks, #76FoMoCo. I already have the anti-seize and dielectric compounds for installing the new ones.

    Spark Plugs

Thanks, SM105K. As soon as they arrive, I'll gap them at the low end and install. It's been years since I actually changed the plugs in any vehicle, so it should be an adventure! Thanks to others for the hints about the coils probably not willingly coming off the plugs. Mine have been in place...
