    2016 SHO noisemaker delete

Not new (notice it says "Joined ... 2016"). Yes, many threads go astray and in my observation, the off-thread discussion gets moved. This one went not just off track, but into the next park. Makes it difficult to search for meaningful info.

    2016 SHO noisemaker delete

Back to the thread: I replaced the OEM tube with the no-noisemaker equipped Lincoln part outlet tube, p/n AA5Z-6F073-C. I can't say that I've noticed any significant difference (not having any sound-level devices installed) but I will say from recent (today!) experience, with the windows open, I...

    Ceramic coating...

I completely believe in the nano-ceramic coatings. However, after my (short and long ago) time working for Ziebart, they're more short term presentation over long term results. My feel (after many years away from them) is that there is merit to the products and approaches, but the pressure on...

    2016 SHO noisemaker delete

Please take this trans mount and other discussions to another thread. This started about noisemaker delete and went off the rails into at least two other areas. Please keep to the thread.

Flash back to stock for emissions testing ?

I have an SCT tune on my 2011 SHO and it fails here in Virginia, showing no signal from the two rear O2 sensors. Flashed it back to stock tune, drove 100 miles, and it passed with no issue. And then I immediately re-flashed back to SCT.

    SHO vs Mustang

I was tempted to tell him we should put his CTS and the SHO to a test, but I don't know where it would be safe to do so and he's not inclined to take his to the track.

    SHO vs Mustang

Yep, going through some of the local back roads with the Mustang today was fun -- a quick outing to do a "drive-by" recognition of a friend's 50th birthday. My comment was "I brought my 5-oh to celebrate your 5-oh!" He's a Cadillac driver, so any time I can put the SHO or the Mustang in front of...

    SHO vs Mustang

Thanks for the reminder. I have a full set of PowerStops that will get installed shortly on the SHO. Fluid will follow the pads. OE pads on the Mustang lasted through two HPDE outings (four days of driving, sixteen track sessions total). Only felt fade once -- after learning to brake for the...

    SHO vs Mustang

Great question! The few (?) times I punch it on the highway, I don't pay attention to the speedo until I'm coming down from whatever max I hit. When I'm in the SHO, my wife is usually in the passenger seat so I'm a little more "aware" of the speed. I give her credit for not flinching when we...

    SHO vs Mustang

I have a 2011 SHO (CAI, plugs, SCT tune, and otherwise unmodified) and a 2015 Mustang GT Premium (CAI, throttle body, and tune - Ford's Power Pack 2), and love them both. Neither has been raced. I have had the Mustang at Summit for HPDE driving (reaching 130 before into the hairpin is scary!)...

    New style Hood

Thanks for the nudge, 802SHO! You're right. I misread my door plate -- 5600 is the gross weight. 4328 is the empty weight of mine. With the spare, carpets, and all else out, the Mustang was easily more than 700 lbs lighter and quite a bit more hp.

    New style Hood

Awesome considering our "land yacht" weighs in at 5600 lbs in stock trim!

    New style Hood

No gutting at all -- in full stock trim (minus spare tire and floor mats since they make us take everything that could become a missile hazard in an uncontrolled situation) and nearly full tank of gas. It could have gone faster if I went through turn 10 faster and jumped harder on the gas, but...

    New style Hood

Trying to process that. I've seen 135 on the track in my 2015 Mustang and that was pretty scary, especially going into the hairpin at Summit Point. Taking the SHO over that, with a full ton more than the GT, is just ... okay, yes, I would like to try it. I might need to take the SHO out to the...

    New Spark plug recommendation

Happy to sell them. Rock Auto has them at $2.19 each. Save me dealing with eBay and I'm good with $9.00 plus mailing/UPS cost. How's that sound?

    New Spark plug recommendation

Guess I got some of the last 542s last year. Finally got around to installing them today. Those back three are a real pain, but managed to do them without removing the crossmember. OEM removed had gaps a bit over .044, with 93K miles. I don't expect to be changing plugs again. Plug boots and...

    GASOLINA

93 is only "required" if you have a tune for 93. In stock tune, the car will figure out the spark/fuel mix is needed for the fuel you put in. Even with cold air intake mod, the car still figured it out -- as optimized by Ford. If you put in an aftermarket tune, you should have a choice of what...

SHO NOISE MAKER <<< Cut open, see what is inside

Outlet Tube, part number AA5Z-6F073-C. Byers Ford had the best price online, but was out of stock. Levittown Ford was only a few dollars more and shipped immediately. Installation was straightforward.

SHO NOISE MAKER <<< Cut open, see what is inside

Replaced my intake tube with the Lincoln version that doesn't have the noisemaker. Not fancy or polished but it does help clean up the engine bay.
