    2016 brakes WTF

I did that too, but my Ford dealer refused to install the Z23 PP pads even though they fit perfectly, claiming "they're not the right part." BS. I had a local shop install them and bedded them per PowerStop's instructions and there was an immediate difference. (BTW, my OEM pads were not...

    Hibiscus/Flower Rims Finish

I have a similar problem with my 2011 wheels. See my post with picture in a separate thread. I'd love to know how to restore the wheels to their original condition.

SCT X4, downpipes, and smog tests

To pass emissions testing in Virginia, I have to restore the car to stock tune, drive about 100 miles, get it tested, then put it back to my SCT tune.

Roof rack or trailer hitch for bike

I have Rhino Rack rails (from AutoAnything) and Thule bike racks. During the winter, the Thule long ski case fits on the same rails. DSC_0455 by DouglasB_SHO posted Feb 1, 2021 at 10:07 AM

    Built-in Dash Cam?

The front-facing sensor is feeds ambient light (how bright it is outside) info to the auto-dimming module, along with the info from the rear facing sensor reading the light coming through the back window, so it can figure out whether it should dim the mirrors or not. I put the cover over it...

    Built-in Dash Cam?

You may want to check into Lockpick by CoastalTech. I have one in my SHO to let me override the nav system lockouts, but it also allows for video inputs. It even allows playing a DVD while moving (not recommended but with younger children in the car, it can be helpful on long trips.)

    Built-in Dash Cam?

The sensor feeds the auto-dim controls for the mirrors in addition to the headlights. You can make the mirrors dim very quickly by covering it. I put one of those sliding covers for laptop cameras on it so I can force dimming when needed.

    Gen 4 Wheel Pitting

Looking for some help here: Searched the forums and didn't find a thread for this. My 2011 SHO wheels are pitting in the area near the valve stem. Any recommendations how to clean up/repair without having the whole wheel redone? I've got 99K miles on it now and expect to keep it a couple more...

    New Spark plug recommendation

Uh oh! Bringing this thread back to life to share my mistake. I pulled what I thought were 542s which show about .032 gap after 9 months and 6K miles, mostly highway (see pics). But, I discovered they were actually SP-524s (marked AYFS092FE1 on the insulator). That explains why I had to close...

    GearHead Tunes

Emissions testing is required in Northern Virginia counties and cities, otherwise no registration. It's not a separate sticker but gets reported to the DMV. What I'm hoping for is to go past one of the automatic monitoring stations that then tells the DMV you were tested (as a drive-by) and that...

    GearHead Tunes

It's been straightforward to me. I have to set it back to stock before Virginia emissions testing, because the test doesn't see the two rear O2 sensors (with the tune) and therefore returns "fail". But it's easy to restore to stock and easy enough to retune after passing the test.

    GearHead Tunes

My 2011 with SCT tune, CAI, and noisemaker delete, running on 93 (SCT is set for 91) routinely gets 27+ on highway trips (I've seen as high as 30, but only briefly) with the adaptive cruise control set 7-12 over.

Light up front, Heavy in the pants

Lower pressure on top of the car results in lift, not down force. Basic physics: lift = lower pressure above, higher pressure below.

    Show me your Interior

Yep, that's my 2011. Picture when I get the chance. Personally, I have loved an all-dark interior, but given the summer months, I'm happy to not be sitting directly on the black seats.
