Cable shifter into Gen2: few questions

Cable shifter opinion I know opinions are like belly buttons, almost everyone has one. I just replaced the cable shifter in my 90 SHO with and e-bay rod shifter and I am really pleased with the change. The rod shifter is more positive and solid feeling and has a shorter throw (feels like it...

90 MTX cooling fan won't come on

Thanks all. I found a good used "M" IRCM and now everything is working again. I think the BWD unit R4124 through O'Reilly Auto parts is not equal to the "M" even though their lookup (and Autozone cross reference ) both say it is the correct one. Any one else looking for this, the BWD RCM21M or...

90 MTX cooling fan won't come on

PAracer - no the fan does not come on while pulling codes, I thought it was supposed to. 92inPA - thanks, I had seen that before when I had a fuel pump problem, but couldn't remember where it was. Electrical stuff doesn't really bother me, but electronics do. When your write-up says something...

90 MTX cooling fan won't come on

Originally posted in electronics, I think it really belongs here instead. Have a BWD replacement IRCM so I don't know if it is equal to the M or not. Cooling fan was working, now it does not come on. Put power direct to the fan, nothing. Have a 3 wire single fan (from a 92 or 93 I think)...

90 MTX cooling fan won't come on

Reposted in Emergency Maintenance. I do not know how to delete this post. Have a Bosch replacement IRCM so I don't know if it is equal to the M or not. Cooling fan was working, now it does not come on. Put power direct to the fan, nothing. Have a 3 wire single fan (from a 92 or 93 I think)...

    Eatc And Other A/c Mysteries

Error codes are 04 bad ambient sensor, 03 bad interior sensor, 02 bad blend door. I do know about the alternator / voltage problems causing problems with the EATC, but at the moment we are getting 13.4 volts with the engine running, so I am assuming that is not contributing to my problem...

    Eatc And Other A/c Mysteries

I am having terrible problems with the automatic temperature control in my 90 SHO. I have been through 2 blend door actuators (one used, one new), 5 EATC control heads (3 soft button, 2 hard button), two ambient temperature sensors (resistance checked OK on both), two interior temperature...

    Climate control

Low voltage from the alternator will do the same thing. That is how I know when my alternator is going out (7 so far) because the EATC starts cycling on and off.

    Intake removal (again)

Thanks to all for your responses, I got it right this time. Runs well too.

    Intake removal (again)

Thanks I wish I had seen that first. At least I would have known what I was getting in to. I have done something wrong with the throttle cable, it seems. There is a lot of slack in it now, and the car won't idle.

    Intake removal (again)

I have read on some SHO sites that the upper intake can be removed in 10 minutes, maybe as long as 30 if you have never done it before. I don't believe it, unless there are some shortcuts that I am missing. The passenger side rear upper manifold support bracket is nearly impossible to get out...

    Messy emergency brake pedal

Stupid problem I have with two Gen I SHOs. Black tar looking stuff on the parking brake pedal. It seems to be coming from up above somewhere. I am looking at a '91 Emerald Green SHO+ and it has the same thing but even worse. It is all over the pedal, kick panel and the carpet under the pedal...

    Gen II A/C EATC problem

93 SHO. Outside temperature shows -41 deg F and the EATC is hard at work trying to heat the interior temperature 99 degrees to 60 deg F. Swapped another outside temp sensor with no change. Heard the blendoor change positions several times just before I noticed the other problem. Any suggestions...

Need fan assembly for 1990, will one from a SLO bolt up?

Aftermarket Fan O'Riley's Auto Parts had a bolt in replacement fan and shroud assembly from a 91 or 92 SHO that I used in my 90. Just had to not use the extra wire for the multiple speed fan.
