I drill and tap drain in mine. I then drain and then spray brake clean in there while rotating axle. Let drain and spray out with shop air. i want that sucker clean.
If your talking about cleaning after ball hone just use diesel to clean. It's just really like super thin oil and cleaner. You can use assy l-u-b-e (since they banned that word )
but I just used regular oil for everything mostly rings don't want syn oil on those at break in.
