My dad owns a 1998 SHO and we're having the worst time trying to find the front struts for the car. i have part numbers ast128 and am911g for the two parts. Is there any other route on replacing these things? I know its electronic controlled, but is there an aftermarket strut that works w/o the electronics? If the electronics isn't installed... will it throw a code?

Thanks!

IIRC, 1998 Does not have SARC Struts (Semi Active Ride controll).

1st mention I've ever heard of any G3's besides '99 not having sarc's. Have Only heard of '99's not having sarc's, also have heard that some did have it? Mine didn't.

Those are the correct part numbers. The PCM will not throw any codes if you do not use SARC type struts.

If it's just a daily commuter hust get some kyb's for a regular taurus. Zip tie the abs wire and brake hose and all is good.

There are SARC replacements.

We do also offer Konis and KYBs as alternatives at SHO Source.

I can only find one side at rock auto... A friend at a ford dealer says he can get the sarcs, but they are 320.00 each.

It's just a daily driver... Not looking for anything special... Just to get him going again. His struts are pretty wasted. If i could... I'd like to put the sarc's back on it... but not for 320 each.

What are the part numbers for the KYB or Koni's?

The KYB strut part number is 344168. Rockauto has them for $59. Not sure about SHO Source, since my company decided to start blocking the website.

Someone just listed a set of all 4 sarcs on fleabay, starting bid 100 with a reserve set.
Maybe you can get a set reasonably?
