Well a budy of mine works @ a junk jard and just recived a wrecked 97 SHO:woo-hoo:, I'm going to ask him to take off the fron brakes for my 91 SHO. But I'm not really sure of all the parts that I need out of that car.
Any help of what exacly I need out of that car?
And also what would be a good price to pay for all of it?

Grab the brackets and rotors for sure. If they're not too much, and you're not too picky, grab the calipers, too. You will also need a set of 94/95 front spindles, minus the caliper brackets, of course. Remove the front spindles from your 91, install the 94/95 spindles, then install the brakes. It's an easy job, relatively speaking.

Would the spindels from the 97 work?
What about the ABS censors?
Why would I have to grab them from a 94/95 SHO and not from the 97 SHO?

The spindle from the 97 is not the same as the 94/95 in the way it mounts to the strut. I believe the 97 spindle mounts higher up on the strut. There are also differences in how the tension struts connect, where the axle connects, etc. If you put a 97 next to a 94/95 you will see the differences.

And to answer your other question...

No the ABS sensors will NOT work.. Different resistance values, and the computer will be ok with it, when you turn the key... but as soon as you hit 5 mph... you'll trip your anti-lock light... ask me how I know... :)

You will need the calipers as well for both your SHOs. So have him grab the rotors, calipers, and caliper brackets from the 97 SHO.

From an ABS-equipped 94/95 Sable/Taurus have him get the spindles and ABS sensors/harness-leads, and the caliper braket bolts.

I have Gen 3 ABS sensors on my car. They work fine.

Well from what I read off the Ford Service manual, and testing the circuits like your supposed to with a breakout box... it is wrong and will not work on a 92... it may be a different value for a 93, but NOT a 92.

honestly forget about the gen 3 sho and just go get a gen 4 caliper and bracket. i got a 2002 taurus bracket and caliper set for like 60 bucks. the car only had like 100 000 KM on it so i was pleased. greased the pins threw new ceramic pads on and bought NEW rotors for like 25 or 30 bucks a piece (yes they were of OEM standards or higher) better than using a used rotor in my opinion.

yes i purchased the rotors to fit a 2002 taurus and they are 11.6" i think i paid 30 bucks a rotor from napa. but yeah i went to a salvage yard that pulls parts for you (as picknpull had no gen 3 sho's or gen 4 slo's for the brackets) and saw a few tauri and foundthe one with the lease milage (100 000 km) and got them to pull the calipers and brackets for 60 bucks. they weanted 80 but i got them for 60. so its all good. dont bother with old rotors when you can get a new set for like 60 right? good luck with your upgrade:)

Unless you're buying Bembros or some other "specialty" rotor (eg. zinc-plated), a rotor is a rotor. In the high-volume salvage yards, it's not uncommon to see vehicles with near-new rotors and pads, or brake lines, or starters, etc., in the yard.

If the rotors shows no significant signs of wear and have a clean surface (ie. no cracks or grooves), junkyard rotors are a economical way to get good set of rotors as long as you don't have to have them turned - otherwise you're better-off buying new based upon cost.

One other thing, as long as the rust isn't well into the rotor surface (eg. pitted or flaking), surface rust on the sweep-area will quickly scruff-off in a few hours to a few days of driving.
