See here in Indiana Wig wags are no no's for anyone but police. Only flashers at the same time. I believe its the same in the rear. I was on a fire department and used my SHO, kept my boots and coat in the trunk at all times. I got away with the red in the rear because "technically" its the same as a red rear flashing light. :) That and we had two ISP officers on the FD with us.

I will say, I always loved parking in the median of the highway flashing red and blue like that.. :) Looked like some kinda FBI squad car or something.... this is my Black / Black 91 Plus I'm talkin about.. oh those were the days... I miss that car more now than I did then I think....

I can tell you that in NY State, volunteer fire and EMS need to have a valid permit, available through your department, and are generally only issued BLUE light permits. Red lights permits are issued to the top two officers of each department. However, red, blue, amber and white lights are permitted in the rear of a vehicle, without permit. Also, wig-wags are not authorized in NY state for non emergency vehicles (your SHO.) I hope this helps you.....

If you curl your hand up under the front fascia, there is a ledge there (where the six push pops are) that would make a good mounting spot for a small speaker. Also, where the vacuum line to the canister purge solenoid goes, in front of the airbox... there's a bit of room for you to mount a speaker to the front rad support.

Ask Eric T. about flashing lights on a SHO

:laugh_ti:

Oh richard... At least I had that trooper try to pass me one day when I was in the tow truck down in that area. He got his and could've used my services to winch him out of the median I forced him over into... What goes around comes around.

What is your budget? If it is not constrained I would stick with the newest generation LED lights, virtually no load on the car comapred to halogen or strobe lights. I have all Whelen in my car, all LED. I love the stuff, I jsut ordered the new LED wide away lights to replace the old strobes.

Take a look at this site. There is alot of good emergency lighting install and product information:

**edit**

Incase anyone is wondering all of the lighting I have is used for storm chasing, as well I occasionally respond to calls (very rare occasions) in my POV to calls for my fire department. No lights are used to respond, just block the right or way.

I'm runing strobes in the stang and had wig wags and a traffic backer in my old SHO (there is a way to correctly wire them). I had no problems at all with charging or function. If I remeber - Porkchop has them in his SHO.

Back then I used www.galls.com for really good prices. I was going to use their remote siren system and speakers. Here are a few links -

Check them out.

I could identify some of the wiring. It would be better if I have the instructions in front of me to see how they wanted it wired to the car. Then I could interpret where those wires go in the car as far as installation.

The traffic backer system was not designed for the Taurus or the Crown Vic but it can be applied.

I always wanted to do a picture how-to for installations. Maybe PorkChop could help me out in the GEN3 dept.
