Hello folks,

I've been reading around this forum for quite some time and now have hit a brick wall. I'm redoing the whole suspension and all components, but since I'm lowering the car with KYB/INTRAX, I will need to get adjustable front strut mounts, adjustable front strut rods (I have the bushings for these), rear adjustable control arms, as well as rear strut rods and bushings, all (4) links and bushings, 21mm & 22mm sway bar bushings, and a bunch of bolts that had to be cut because of rust (Car is from Ohio).

Does anyone know of any company that's ready to do business and provide the necessary parts that I need? I've emailed shobros (no response) and I've also emailed RCM and they responded, but their responses are not consistent and timely enough. I don't know if they are too busy or what, but I would like to just order the parts that I need and get my wife's car out of my driveway because it's holding up other projects that I have. I build turbocharged Nissan cars in my spare time and my (2) SHOs are the oddballs of the bunch, but I've always loved these cars and I hate the support is so crappy for them.

Can someone please point me in the right direction to a company that does take phone calls or at least is ready to do business because this email thing and buying parts is something I'm not used to doing. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dee

- I'm half way through the process myself. Front is done, along with motor mounts. Rear is torn down and ready for some prep before install.

I purchased most parts from RockAuto. You can get a discount code from this forum and safe 5% or so. Great on-line catalogue and store, excellent communication via e-mail. Quick shipping. Nothing bad to say.

There were a few items I absolutely needed to go to RCM for. Little to no communication via phone or email from them, and some delay in shipping a few items for reasons they chose not to share. Very frustrating to deal with, but I did eventually get all items from all orders placed with them.

Several parts were ordered from NAPA.

Maybe you will find some of this helpful.

Thanks for the response, man. Trying to get these companies that have the necessary eye candy to help is a bit of a challenge. Some things I know Rock Auto won't have are the things that are going to slow me down or hold me up. Adjustable parts are the main problems and I'm not used to having to wait for a company to respond via email to help me out (It sucks for business). I'll give rockauto a call to see if they can help me with some things. Maybe if I wasn't going to lower it with the Intrax springs, I wouldn't have to have all of the fancy extras.

Thanks again..........

You do not want to use intrax springs, with kyb struts. You'll be kicking yourself in the teeth a month or two down the road. Tokico (if you can find a used set) and Konis are the only options you have for use with intrax.

Return the KYB's. This is from someone who's made that mistake themself already... you will be woefully unhappy with a KYB/ Intrax combo.

Eibachs and Sensatracs have been proving to be ok but if you want intrax, Koni is the only real option. You can get the Sensatracs from any auto parts store and the eibachs are pretty easy to find as well. Even eBay has them all the time. May be a better way to go for convenience.

Being a builder of fast cars, I've learned what I know through experience, especialy through the experiences of others. I have the KYB/Intrax set-up on my 1995 turbocharged Hyundai Elantra and this suspension was dead in no time. And through your experiences, I wanna know what happened with you guys' cars. This car is not gong to be racing or anything like that because I don't drive it (Woman with children), but I still wanna know. Maybe I should've just left it stock, but that's not me. I hate simple peformance sedans and that's why I'm inquiring. So before I do something wrong or spend unnecessary money, please fill me in on what's good and bad for the SHO.

Thanks,

Dee

if your not going to track the car the Eibachs and Sensatracs are the way to go , if saving money is also one of the thing you need to do I would go with the sensatracs and moog cargo coils and cut them a little, the intrax springs are going to ride harder than the eibachs or the moogs imo

In short, after about 5000 miles, the KYB's had the dampening ability of a weak hood strut with the Eibach springs I have. They'd last a tenth of that with Intrax springs.

The only viable options with Intrax springs is Koni adjustables or Tokico's, if you have God on your side and can find a set (They've been discontinued for the SHO for a couple of years now).

I wish I bought a couple of sets of the tokico's, I have them and eibachs on my 94 atx and it handles like its on rails , the 93 is going koni and eibachs the koni's are just $$$$$ more than the tokico's

I'm going to go with the Tokicos. I'm forced to sell the Gr2s and I can't afford for this car to be down any longer. I just need a strut I can install without having to mod anything. Again the car is a daily driven car andwill not be twisting and turning on no one's track, so let meknow if this is cool!

Thanks again,

Dee

You can find a fairly extensive list of suspension part numbers on my web site. Look here for the Part List page.

RCM is a good guy to buy from. RockAuto.com is about the best "on line" parts store. You should have no problem getting everything you need from these two vendors.
