So my 92 SHO has been leaking at the ****** where the intermediate pipe and exhaust coming off the engine meet. Sadly the intermediate pipe ****** and bracket are rusted so thin I need to replace them. Thankfully SHO Source had a replacement for my 92 which has the rod shifter. Anyhoo I am just going to replace all the exhaust since the stuff going to the back is pretty rusted and I feel trying to clamp on new clamp will just crush it. So any recommendations on mufflers? I am going to take my car to the local exhaust shop to do the rear stuff since it seems the pipe is no longer available, but what mufflers are a good choice for the SHO? SHO source has a few different types. I was leaning towards the Flowmaster super 40's since I got them on my 69 tbird and I like the sound they make. Are the Borla or Magnaflow any good?

EDIT: What the heck? Fla-nge is a bad word?

I had Magnaflow on one of my 92's and I thought they were a little too loud. But if you like the sound of Flowmasters, then you would probably think the Magnaflows aren't loud enough. I haven't heard Flowmasters in person, but heard they are loud. I bought Borlas for my next exhaust replacement. Doesn't Shosource have some sound clips on their website.

No sound clips. Flowmaster super 40 has a more lower aggressive tone. Not overly loud. Havent heard the Borla or dynomax (sorry thought it was magnaflow).

I have the borlas with a y pipe and cats (I live in California) on my 89. They have been on there since 1990 when I was 11 years old.
I remember always being able to tell when it was my parents coming home, I could hear the car from four blocks away. It wasn’t that it was super loud, it was just low and distinctive. And a bit loud.
As an adult, having had some loud cars (with flowmaster 40s) the , I would say that the borlas are loud without being overly loud, if you never rev over 3000 RPM it will never be uncouth sounding. However, as you approach the point where the butterflies open up, suddenly a loud rasp develops and the noise is horrible and lovely. It reminds me of a Japanese engine (surprise, surprise) but not at all like a Honda. More like that Honda’s bigger, burlier brother on steroids.
I guess what I’m saying is, I don’t think you can go wrong on this. I love the Borla exhaust system that I have, but I also have always wanted to hear my car with FlowMaster 40s. If I were building this thing now, I would probably go with the flowmasters. But it would be a gamble, since I haven’t heard that motor with those mufflers.

Over the years I think Borla > everything for these cars (and even moreso on the v8s).. sound and durability/ metal quality

The local group had a couple of dyno days where we got to compare in person. I never liked the loudest pipes like the Flowmasters, it's all personal preference of course. One person who took a ride in my car with its Borlas said he was going to get them based on that.
It now sounds slightly different because it has bumped up cams and the SHO Source equal length collectors, but I still love it.
