Anyone have experience with these? They sound pretty awesome in theory as an alternative to h&r springs which give no adjustment. Definitely pricier but maybe not such a spine crushing experience. Plus off track less likely to scrape the ground since you can go back to a more normal ride height.

I daily drive BC coilovers in Michigan. It can be pretty rough sometimes. Rides on rails but man do I find myself bouncing in my seat. With these you can't adjust back to stock height unfortunately.

Sounds like you feel they did provide an upgrade in handling, but find them to be harsh over anything bumpy? I find Maine roads to be comparable to Michigan so that's good to know your opinion. Are you saying once you adjust down you can't regain your hight? Also how long have you them for @DGrot777 ?

I had them for about 10 months. The max height is about an inch and a half or two lower from stock. I don't find myself scrapping on the driveway, but on steep slopes from some parking lots can make you scrape the wind deflector. Hard bumps feel like you just hit another vehicle lol. Driving on a bumpy dirt road is a handful, it looks like my mirrors are about to fall off. There's a huge difference in handling, it's awesome. This is my first vehicle with coilovers, and after riding in a different vehicle with coilovers and another with lowering springs, I think I'd do lowering springs next time around for daily driving sake. Track use it would be a must.

Hmmm if lowering springs are less harsh then I'm not so certain these will be my preferred choice either. Some side roads are as rough as dirt around here even though they are paved lol. Maybe one day when it will no longer be a daily driver. I really appreciate that feedback man!

On a flat dirt road it's tolerable, once you see dirt road potholes it's game over. Otherwise they're great and I like em a lot. Hopefully this helps you make a decision.

I watched a video on the install of these and it looks like the adjustments for the camber are hard to get to after install.

Did you have to modify anything to make the adjustments?

I've got BC coilovers on my 13 sho. I didn't install them or align it though so can't attest to how much of a pain that was. However, I will say they ride fine and have like 10 stiffness settings on mine which I've just got it on the softest.

How would you compare them to h&r springs? In both overall ride quality and in performance/ handling capabilities?

I had H&R springs on my last SHO. They were probably about the same in stiffness, but a proper coilover will always out perform springs on stock suspension. Less bounce than H&R springs for sure. The car is definitely lower on the coilovers than the springs. If you do springs you'll want to replace your struts while you're at it.

After doing a little more research I'm pretty confident I'll be pulling the trigger on the BC DS series rather than the BR. A little more expensive but seems worth it for the ride comfort and adaptability. I never know when or where I decide to get spirited.

Anyone know if any of the vendors are having a labor day sale or something?

Many sites are having sales, but unfortunately, it looks like BC didn't get involved.

On the BC Coilovers NA site I can customize and put Swift Springs on the front (additional fee, of course.) The rears do not have this option.

That being said I have some options on the front (Swift Springs) spring rates of 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, or 12kg. On the rear (BC Springs) I have the option of 8, 10, or 12kg.

Does anyone know what the SHO stock spring rates are?

Not sure if changing the weights up would make a difference.

Also, they have extenders available which may answer/solve my question on the Camber Adjustments. Looks like they would slide under and allow my to adjust in tight spaces.

Lastly, they have an "Extreme Low" version which give the range of a minimum 2" drop to as low as 3", as opposed to the 1-2" on the regular. Wow....

Looks cool. I assume I would be having to roll my fenders some on that one.

I'm just trying to figure out what weights on the front and rear springs I should get.

I'm not proficient enough in the suspension and auto cross would to know what might be the better setup to run with.

From what I've gathered the BMW AWD cars are running something like 6-8kg in the fronts and 20kg in the rears.

I'm not sure why, but I assume with the size and weight of the SHO we would want the rears higher.

Anyone care to chime in to help understand?

I gathered that the stock front spring rate weight is 6kg and the rear is 8kg.

The cliff notes are the higher you go with the spring rates the better the car will handle while sacrificing the comfort of the ride.

The in depth part is it looks like you can go so stiff that the weight of the car won't even compress the spring. So it's not ideal to just get the stiffest spring option even if you are a competitive auto cross driver.

There is a balance and I'm trying to figure that out.

I'm leaning towards 8kg in the front and 12kg in the back.

I'll see if I can reach out to a suspension shop or something to get some clearer answers.

The last dilemma is do I want a slammed SHO or not? Probably not ..
