Hey everyone! Long time lurker. Got my first SHO mod from here (Vent to atmosphere BOV). Still love the WHOOSH! Got my 2015 about 3 years ago and have loved it. I got the non-PP as I wanted to the adaptive cruise control. This car replaced my '07 Roush Mustang. In that, I had swapped the 4.6 for a GT500 engine and eventually put a a Stiegmeier snakebite on that. Not gonna lie, I miss that power.

Anyway, back to the present, my SHO has had a few hiccups. I'm on my third PTU (I wasn't even tuned yet). First one was replaced by Ford, second one by a friend who is a local mechanic. Once I was out of factory warranty, I decided to tune the car. I went with the Livernois Stage 1 pack. Loved it for a while until I started having some misfiring. After much troubleshooting, the following was performed:
  1. Carbon scrape
  2. Replaced 1 cracked piston
  3. Replaced all piston rings (signs of oil blow by)
  4. Serviced fuel injectors (now they are all within the same range now)
  5. Replaced coil packs
I just passed over the 1,000 mile mark since this work was performed. Car seems better, but not 100%. I don't think I'm in the clear yet. I am running stock tune, but hope to be back to the Livernois tune soon.

I hope to swap a Sync 3 head unit into my car soon. I recently spent some extended time with a car equipped with CarPlay and I need it! :) I'd also like to eventually make more power than what the stage 1 provides.

Thanks for having me. I look forward to getting to know you folks.

-Mike

Welcome to SHOmania! Sorry to hear about the "history" with the SHO, hopefully the growing pains will soon be a thing of the past, making $$$ available to spend on stuff you WANT.

How did you service the injectors? A DI specific cleaning machine or some other method? I think misfiring has been more injectors than plugs or coils on the SHO, unless you use non Motorcraft plugs. Did you go with OEM coils or MSD?

Def document your Sync3 swap. Always a big "lurker crowd" waiting for such information, and hopefully get some to go active :D

Thank you! You are correct, I want to spend money on fun stuff! :)

I didn't do it, my local mechanic friend had it done by a neighbor shop that has the necessary machines to measure and clean them. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you more. Forgot to mention I got new plugs, as well. They are OEM as well as the replacement coil packs.

Document the Sync 3, I shall. I also plan to dabble in the Forscan stuff. My brief searches showed there is a version that runs on Linux that could run on the Mac. So excited to finally be able to open my doors at night without having the car blind me with the interior lights!

There is a Windows version that allows you to make changes to configuration files on the various modules. Macs have run Windows programs virtually for as far as I can remember, hopefully still the case.
