Hate to create a whole new thread here but wanted to give people a heads up about massive savings on the Magnaflow Cat-Back. Through their website I was directed to "Planet Magnaflow," to order and if you sign up to get their email newsletter they give you a coupon on purchases over $250. I applied the code and got $300 off the system! My total order was $800 for the Magnaflow Cat-Back with FREE shipping! Part #15769.

I'm sure there's arguments for Corsa, Magnaflow, Borla but I started this whole exhaust adventure by looking just for a couple mufflers and 4" tips. The cheapest I found for 2 mufflers and 2 tips was about $300+. Well shoot, for just $500 more I'm getting a whole system.

Hope I'm helping those in the same boat as me.

Having a tiny bit of concern after watching some YouTube videos on this Magnaflow setup! Sounds almost stock to me! So I'm comparing the Magnaflow to Corsa and it appears the Corsa has just straight pipes from Cats back to mufflers. Magnaflow looks like it has a center muffler/resonator between Cats and mufflers like the stock setup.
Would I be ok to eliminate the Magnaflow center muffler and use straight pipe or X pipe? What would be best? Thanks!

the center muffler really does not have a lot of packing in there, the shop that does my work ( yes we have a real muffler shop here ) said if i want more sound he could removing the packing on the center muffler =, im happy with the sound, and it does get more sound after the packing breaks in, i was going for a x pipe and mufflers before i got this system .

also did note a lower power gain with this exhaust system, more lower end, thought i was just me until my wife even said the car has a lot more power, and i have no tune yet ...

also going to tune very shortly had to wait till my service adviser got all set up in his new dealership, going with livernos and there down pipes

Corsa is not straightpiped. It has a built in resonator. The stock resonator is taken out IIRC.

X pipes help with Magnaflow sound. Dynomax mufflers open up the sound more.

Built in resonator where? I look at all the pics online and it's just pipes back to the mufflers on Corsa.

So you have the entire Magnaflow system and didn't touch it or modify? Sounds better than stock exhaust?

I bought the obx cat back off eBay for $703 shipped. The fit was pretty decent. I've had better and far worse. The sound is amazing! Everyone that hears it says how wicked it sounds at wot! Very pleased with the kit for the money. Looks pretty good too.

So my car is at the exhaust shop right now and these guys have been in business for 40 years and also do performance work - they said the Magnaflow system has an X Pipe built into the center muffler/res and I would be wasting nothing but money to add another x pipe and would do nothing for sound. Thoughts?

Did not know the X Pipe was built into any Magnaflow catbacks, but I am sure they have literature stating so? Can they let you sample the difference in sound with and without the additional X Pipe?

The magnaflow's resonator design works good for scavenging. That is the whole idea behind any x-pipe, h-pipe and resonator chamber design. They all sound different but work scavenging. My experience is that the classic x-pipe has the most aggressive sound. For around $700 shipped to your door you can't get a better sound and performance than the obx kit. That's just my opinion and opinions are like a__holes, everybody has one If I get a chance I'll record it and post it so you can hear for yourself.

From what I understand the Magnaflow and OBX are very similar and to get them to sound the same all you have to do is eliminate the Center Muffler/Res on the Magnaflow. The OBX has just straight pipes back to the 2 rear mufflers. I paid $800 for my Magnaflow and I like that it has the center muffler because I don't want that much noise for daily driver and sometimes a 4-hour trip to in-laws. And I have a 3-year old that sleeps - gotta keep the noise down, but like the little extra this system creates.

Yes, the OBX is a little loud if you have young ones. My 5 year old doesn't mind it, but he's a little nuts like his old man! I don't mind the extra sound, I actually love it but it's not for everyone.
